Adulthood Is a Myth A Sarah's Scribbles Collection

Do you love networking to advance your career? Is adulthood an exciting new challenge for which you feel fully prepared? Ugh. Please go away. These casually drawn, perfectly on-point comics by the hugely popular young Brooklyn-based artist Sarah Andersen are for the rest of us. They document the wasting of entire beautiful weekends on the internet, the unbearable agony of holding hands on the street with a gorgeous guy, and dreaming all day of getting home and back into pajamas. In other words, the horrors and awkwardnesses of young modern life. Oh and they are totally not autobiographical. At all. Adulthood Is a Myth presents many fan favorites plus dozens of all-new comics exclusive to this book. Like the work of fellow Millennial authors Allie Brosh, Grace Helbig, and Gemma Correll, Sarah's frankness on personal issues like body image, self-consciousness, introversion, relationships, and the frequency of bra-washing makes her comics highly relatable and deeply hilarious.

While everyone is familiar with Sarah Andersen's comics by now, the relatability and humor made me enjoy this book so much. They're simple, but really hit home for an introverted millennial like myself.

Never have I ever related to a book so strongly!

This is the first graphic novel I have ever read, and I wasn’t expecting these scribbles to be as funny and as relatable as they were.

This book actually had me laughing out loud, had me saying “Yassssss!”, and had me pointing out page after page to my sister.

It’s silly and cute, but also deeply truthful to problems faced by adults.

Sarah did a great job at showing the hardships faced by adults while keeping it light and funny, and wondering when exactly, this adulthood thing begins.

If you are trying to cultivate a habit of reading, I suggest you start with this. It’s an easy read, and the speed at which you will finish the book will encourage you to pick up another book.
Let me know how that goes. 😊

Sarah Andersen's comics are reposted on social media all the time, so I had a good idea that I would love the book. Unsurprisingly, I adored Adulthood is a Myth, and am glad to have it in my collection of dead tree books rather than just occasionally on my Facebook feed. Anderson writes and draws humorous strips about dealing with adulthood, anxiety, and books. Basically, that's my life to a T! Also, the cover is fuzzy. I did not have a fuzzy book in my collection before this and now I do :D

I finished this in twenty minutes. It was really funny and literally my life. I could see how it was number one. As a "graphic novel" my expectations were a lot less than other forms as of literature.

I've been following her art for a long time. I'm so glad to support and have a copy. Her humor makes my day better. It has a lot of cartoons, although the books looks thin. The cover is amazing and has velvet texture on the red parts. Just great.
