Aflame A Fall Away Novel

From the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of Bully, Until You, Rival, and Falling Away comes the sizzling conclusion to the Fall Away series. The tables have turned. Now I have the power—and it’s his turn to beg… Everyone wants to be me. Maybe it’s the sway of my skirt or the way I flip my hair, but I don’t care. Even though their attention is the last thing I crave, I just can’t stop. I dominate the track, the speed rattles my bones, and the wind and the crowd screams my name. I’m her. The girl driver. The queen of the race. And I’m surviving—something he thought I’d never do. They all talk about him. Did you see Jared Trent on T.V? What did you think of his last race, Tate? When is he coming back to town, Tate? But I refuse to care too much. Because when Jared does come home, I won’t be here. Tatum Brandt is gone. I’m someone new.

so, fall away series is over, just finished it, and i'm crying sm bc there is something about finishing series that makes me so empty but at the same time full i'm so glad that we got so have jaredtate again and madocfallon and jaxjuliet bc this was a beautiful closure, even tho i know i'm going to be reading the next gen books - "Even though I’d left to make myself whole, there was still a piece of me that seemed forever hollow. A piece only she ever filled." - “Madoc will be the one playing with all of her toys with her. Jax will be climbing mountains with her on his shoulders. But you’re her shield, Jared. The one who will make sure she is never hurt. I’m not asking you. I’m telling you. Quinn Caruthers needs all of her brothers.” - "Tate holds my heart, and I could choke trying to swallow and bury my need for her." - "I slid my hand into my pocket, my fingers fisting around the familiar round of clay that held her fingerprint. After all this time, I still needed the little thumbprint fossil she’d made as a kid. I couldn’t live a day without her." - "At ten years old, Jared was my friend. At fourteen, my enemy; at eighteen, my lover; and at twenty, my heartbreak. I’d known him more than half my life, and although the roles had changed, his impact was always all consuming. Always." - "Tate, you don’t know what you do to me. You drive me out of my mind. Your words, your laughter, your tears, your eyes . . . everything about you owns me" - “I’m never letting you go again, Tate,”“I’m your friend forever, and if that’s all I get, then that’s what I’m taking, because only when you’re here”—I took her hand and placed it on my heart—“do I feel like my life is worth a damn.” - "God, I fucking loved her. Even being on the track—which I loved—wasn’t as good as the high I felt when she was near me." - " I only lived in her orbit, and I would die there, too. There was no choice to be made." - "That I loved Tate. That she loved me. And that together we were invincible. It had taken me years to learn, but I’d spend the rest of my life making up for it." - "Twelve years,”, “and I have never stopped wanting you, Tate. Not for a single day have I been free of you.” “I want everything. I want you to finish school. I want the wedding with our friends and family. I want the house, and I want our kids, Tate.” - “You’re written all over my body,” he spoke low, just for us. “The tattoos can never be erased. You hold my heart, and you can never be replaced.” - "We got into so much trouble. High school would’ve been more fun for me if I’d met Jared’s challenge sooner, but who knows? Maybe we wouldn’t be here otherwise. I wouldn’t trade any of it, because no matter what happened before or what would come next, I would always choose him. Jared was my home."

This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance Summary  Two years have passed since Jared, left Tate to find himself. He discovered his passion, trying to become a man that would be worthy of Tatum. But when after being gone six months, he saw that she had apparently moved on which almost broke him at that time. So he returned back to his world of racing and building custom vehicles. Its the two year mark, since he lost the woman that was his heart. His friendships have been put on hold. But when he learns that his mother is pregnant, and he will have a baby sister, he goes back home and comes face to face with Tate. Tate almost broke when Jared left her, and she tried to move on but has yet to without thinking about him or craving his touch. Over the two years that he has been gone, she has become harder, colder and she lives and breathes racing. But when Jared enters her life again, she refuses to allow him to hurt her again. But Jared is going to fight for her with his last breath and show her that they are meant to be together. Plot and Story Line  This was a story that I was nervous about reading. We have their first book, when they fall in love and we see the complexities of their relationship and they are one of my favorite couples that this author has written. In the previous book, Falling Away we see a glimpse of the problems that surface between Jared and Tate. Tate has always been driven, and known exactly what she wants to do with life. However, Jared---hasn't had what Tate has had. He never knew what he really wanted for his life, other than Tate...but he needed purpose in life. He needed to find himself, because there were so many distractions some good and some bad that prevented him from finding who he is and where he wants to go in life. He came to a decision to be a better man not only for himself but for the woman he loved more than life. I left so I could be a better man for you. So I could come back for you. Now its been two years and both Jared and Tate have changed. Jared has found himself and purpose but still yearns for Tate. Tate however, has grown very different. She is a woman he almost doesn't recognize. Colder and more distant. She is a challenge for Jared, and he will have to work to deserve her again. This is what made this book so fun...was seeing the bantering and the silly fights these two have. The Racing----yes these two go at it once again. *grins* Quite entertaining, and seriously the way these two race rocks it. I grew to admire the way this book developed. We see the depth of feeling between Jared and Tate. “I’m never letting you go again, Tate,” I whispered, almost desperate. “I’m your friend forever, and if that’s all I get, then that’s what I’m taking, because only when you’re here” – I took her hand and placed it on my heart – “do I feel like my life is worth a damn.” Their relationship becomes more vital in this book than in how we have seen them in the past. We get some unique interference from the other two couples. What really did it for me, was how these two are truly tested when it comes to trust in the end here. This is what changes them and strengthens their bond. The Narration  Oh I had a blast with these two narrators once again!! I just can't get enough and I am so thrilled they were doing the fourth book in the series!!! Both are fantastic and I loved their voices and the way they get into the roles so easily. The Cover  I am not sure what I feel for this cover. A bit bland compared to the others, and probably my least favorite of the series. Overall View  Aflame is a story that tests you in ways you don't expect....its a tale of redemption, forgiveness and a powerful love that never dies. BRILLIANTLY WRITTEN!! Books N' Tunes: As I was thinking of a song that would relate with these two: This song just fits, their relationship and what they become here. And YAY for Jared And Tate getting their HEA they deserve.   [foogallery id="20332"]

Originally posted at Booklovers For Life Oh. My. God. I absolutely LOVED Aflame – it’s a brilliant, fantastic ending to one of my most favorite series of all time. From the second I started this book until I got to the very last word, I couldn’t stop smiling. And THAT ENDING!! It was beautiful – this whole book is a treasure, really. Admittedly, I wasn’t too sure how I’d feel about this book existing at the cost of Jared and Tate breaking up. I adored them in Bully and Until You, and I never wanted them to break up! But Penelope Douglas has yet to steer me wrong, and I knew she’d blow me away with Aflame – and she did. Heart-pounding, sexy, and intense, Aflame will wow fans of the Fall Away series and have them falling in love with Tate and Jared all over again. Like warmth and peace and no matter what changed in my life, the people I met, the things I lost, or where I lived, if I was in his orbit, then I was home. It’s been two years since Jared left home and broke Tate’s heart. I hated that Jared had to break up with Tate, but I could understand his need to find himself, to be a better man for Tate. For so long, he’d been living under her shadow and if he continued to live that way, he’d never be the man Tate deserved. But in order to be that man who could support her, he’d have to be able to support himself first. So he left, broke their hearts (and definitely mine too), and paved his own way in life doing what he loved – racing. But when his mother gives him some unexpected good news, Jared has to return home and face everything he left. While I love Jared, it was Tate who blew me away in this book. I’ve loved Tate since she performed her monologue in Bully, but the Tate in Aflame is absolutely stunning. She’s grown and matured so much – she’s no longer the girl who lets her emotions get the best of her. She’s a woman now, and while Jared may have broken her heart two years ago, she’s grown stronger and more resilient since. So when Jared comes back home unexpectedly, she faces him head on, not allowing him anywhere near her heart ever again. Tate fights against their still-existing, wicked-hot chemistry, but Jared, this boy who has turned into the most incredible man, sets out to show her that they were always meant to be. “You want to play” he charged, biting out every word so only I could hear. “Challenge accepted, Tatum. This time I don’t want you hurt,” he continued, his breath falling over me as he got in my face, “and I don’t want you small. I just want you. Do you hear me?” He jerked me into his body. “It will be my ring on your finger and my kids in your belly someday.” I never thought I could love Jared and Tate more than I did after reading Bully and Until You, but after Aflame, my love for them knows no bounds. I freaking LOVED them in Aflame! I couldn’t stop smiling and giggling at their banter. And holy mother of god, the sexual tension. Aflame is the HOTTEST book Penelope Douglas has written yet – I thought Jax’s book was sexy, but Aflame was off the charts. The love and hate between Jared and Tate are explosive – it was like how it was in Bully, except better, more mature and refined. Fans of Jared and Tate absolutely NEED to experience them in Aflame! At its heart though, Aflame is about two people who are finding their way back to each other. There is no doubt that Jared and Tate still love each other, that they always have and always will. They belong together, and it was a heartwarming experience to read about Jared and Tate again. They are two of my favorite couples, and I couldn’t imagine a more honest, heart-wrenching, beautiful journey for them. “For better or worse, you’ve been my other half since I was ten years old, and I can’t imagine a future I’d want without you in it. You’re the love of my life.” Amazon Ebook: http://amzn.to/1CZTkaj Liked this review? Subscribe to Booklovers For Life for more!
