I read the book when it was on wattpad and that was it. there was no talk about a movie or it being published. When I first started reading it, I loved it.. but near the end of the whole story, (which this book won't have since it's a trilogy) I HATED it. Of course I finished it to see what happened with the idiots, but I could barely do that! I don't know why anyone liked it. The relationship was based on/started by a bet that is such shit and then the whole relationship is emotionally abusive. It is also a Harry Styles fanfic on wattpad (I am a fan of One Direction) and so many young girls read this because they love him so much and I don't want anyone else reading this because I don't want girls thinking this is the way a relationship should be. This whole story shows everything a relationship should NOT be actually.I hated all the constant back and forth between the two because once again, this story is emotionally abusive. I HATE that Anna Todd is getting paid by everyone buying her book and then if the movie does good. I never write out reviews on here. I usually just rate them, but hopefully you can see just how much I hate this series since I typed out a freaking paragraph.

Rowling eyes. Agora tenho pena dela unf

Well if ever an ending could shock you beyond belief this book did it. I got so caught up in this book that I finished it in one day! I'll admit the constant back and forth was annoying at times but what type of story would it be if it was easy? My hated for Molly grew with just about every other chapter but other then that I really liked most of the characters and how they developed.

I read the After series when I was in middle school on Wattpad. I vividly remember waiting for after school when I got my phone back, in my catholic school uniform checking to see if she had released a new chapter. After was one of the first books that really got me into reading, and for that reason, it will always hold a special place in my heart. With that being said…

Hardin has to be one of the most abusive characters that I have ever read. Yes, of course as a middle schooler I didn’t notice how abusive he was, I was blinded by my raging hormones, and his hot bad boy attitude. I was also like 11 and obviously didn’t know any better. But now as a 22 year old, my advice to Tessa would be to get a restraining order.

Don’t get me wrong this book is very well written, beyond entertaining, almost addictive. The same way you can’t look away from a car crash, the car crash being their psychotic relationship. I’ve seen that people say they love this book for how relatable it is and I find that extremely concerning. As entertaining as this book is, it should not be romanticized. Someone who loves you would not hurt you intentionally, it’s not normal and it’s not okay. No one should be treated the way that Hardin treated Tessa. The most unrealistic thing was that he never hit her. He was already verbally and emotionally abusive. I truly believe that if Hardin wasn’t a fictional character, that he would have been physically abusive as well. The only reason he wasn’t physically abusive is because there wouldn’t have been a second book.

And for anyone relating to Tessa in her relationship with Hardin, you are so much better off without him. Please reach out to those around you for support and help, you’re never alone. ❤️

I never post reviews but I need to get this off my chest. Sorry for any typos. I had my « bad boy »,romanticizing abusive relationships phase when I was 12 because that’s when I started reading on Wattpad, and After was just one of the many books that portrayed such a bad exemple. This app alone played such a big part in how I viewed every relationship, sex in general etc for so many years. I’m now over this but with the movie adaptation now out it’s influencing new people. My best friend can’t stop recommending it to me telling me that : « my hormones’ll go crazy ». In a way I’m glad I got through that phase early in my life while the only boyfriend I had was the one I was reading about. But sadly the popularization of books like that just makes more innocent souls that never opened wattpad think this garbage is hot.

Okay this is my very first book review I have ever written. I read them consistently but never write them. TBH The After Series is one of my very favorite. I know people have mixed feelings about this book because of the way Hardin treats everyone. But honestly I am a sucker for a bad boy falling for a good girl. That sounds super cheesy but it's true. One thing I love about this book is that it is relatable and its realistic. Its not one of those books that is full of cliches and super cheesy lines. I LOVE the way Anna Todd writes and I love this series regardless of all the negative feelings people have towards Hardin. I love this book and I recommend everyone to read it :)

Sometimes a little bit to long dreading but ugh everyone is a sucker for Hardin right? Still very emotional book though! Bawling my eyes out for way to long after this book and I don't cry fast while reading. Loved the spicy scenes in this one.

I fell in love with this series from the first chapter and I have had the pleasure of getting to know Anna a little bit through twitter and she's like the big sister I've never had. I'm honestly so very happy for her. She deserves it all. Absolutely amazing.

Pior série de livros alguma vez publicada. Deveria ter ficado no wattpad. A personagem principal Tessa é insuportável. Este livro promove abuso emocional e romantiza relações abusivas. E o pior é que raparigas de 13-16 anos leem isto e pensam que é normal.. Não sei como é que alguem publicou este lixo.

** spoiler alert ** This book just ruined me. There were so many emotions throughout. I laughed, I cried and I screamed. This book made me mad and then it made me squeal with joy. I loved this book so so much. This book was so good however I wish it ended differently. I was left furious and emotional. I read this book so quickly because I could not physically put it down. I was obsessed with the characters and everything about it. I couldn’t stop thinking about it and I’m so excited for the movie. I recommend this book but just remember it’s an emotional rollarcoaster and will effect you in so many ways ughhh...... the ending. I can’t get over it. Re-Read 13/9/2021: Is this book problematic as hell? Uh yeh. Does it still hold a special place in my heart? Also yes. I have no idea why I love this book so much. It’s a comfort read for sure. And if you hate this book I understand, but I love it…

That's not how sex works. That's not how sexual debuts work. That's not how healthy relationships work. That's not how plot works. That's not how the English language works. Real person fanfiction is a particular kind of disgusting, and the rise of the After series is a particular kind of despicable.
