After the Fall

After the Fall

Giana Darling2020
I was settin' up to live a good life, the kinda life I'd fought hard to deserve. With a good woman--the best woman--at my side, a degree under my belt, and the whole world at my feet, I was livin' the kinda happily ever after usually denied the rebellious and the criminal. I'd turned my back on that kinda life, thinkin' I needed that clean, wholesome kinda happy. Then the devil came dressed in the wings of an angel and took someone from me.And I realized I was wrong. There was no clean and wholesome for a man like me with poetry in his heart and outlaw in his blood. The life I'd been livin' was only purgatory, holding me over until the time came for me to descend into Hell and pick up the tarnished crown that awaited me.I was condemning my woman to a life of violence, blood, and heartache, but I had to hope she'd step up and finally be the rough and tumble queen to my Fallen MC king.*After the Fall can be read as a stand-alone romance, but you first meet the couple in Lessons in Corruption (The Fallen Men, #1)*

I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Hands down, listening to this book on audio, for me, made this book a million times better. After reading this book as an eBook it felt a little slow, but being able to listen to the book come to life made the experience even better. Again, like I said in my original review this book had my emotions all over the place. There's just something about these Fallen Men that really gets to me. They are ruthless, and go through so much in this book, but they would do absolutely anything for the people that they love. Jacob Morgan, Savannah Peachwood and Jason Clarke did such a great job bringing these characters back to live again. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Original Review: I received an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. After the Fall is the fourth book in the Fallen Men MC series by Giana Darling. It is a follow up book to Lessons in Corruption, which is King and Cressida’s first book, and I recommend that you read it first. As you know, I just read and reviewed Lessons in Corruption and thought it was a good idea for me to dive right into this book after finishing. To tell you that this book had my emotions all over the place is an understatement. I love the way Giana Darling writes her main characters. They are fully fleshed out and you can really get into their minds, which is one of my favorite things to do while reading. King is so strong, passionate and well beyond his years. Cressida has grown into a beautiful individual who's not scared to chase her dreams or share her feelings with you. They have such a strong love for one another that it just radiates off of the pages. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. However, I wasn't totally glued to my kindle/phone while reading, which was very disappointing for me. I didn't feel this way while reading Lessons in Corruption, so I’m not sure where this one went wrong. I just feel like I was trudging along to get to some action. About halfway through the story did start to pick up, which helped. Other than that, this book was good. The story and characters were written out beautifully and the passion in this book made my heart swoon. Giana Darling really knows how to flesh out and tell a really good story about two people who love one another more than anything in the world and who would do absolutely anything to protect one another. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

5 STARS!!!! 5 FUCKING AMAZING STARS... “𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧’ 𝐢𝐭. 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞. 𝐒𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐭 ’𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.” I'm so in love. I feel so much love, so overwhelmed with love. Almost too much love and I don't even understand it myself. I'm addicted to King & Cress! When I think the fourth book couldn't get any better. I was so dead wrong. The Love King has for Cress is magical, it hit my heart differently each time they were together pouring their sweetness secrets against each other forehead. And, it literally broke my goddamn heart when King died only after few hours marrying the love of his life, Cress. My heart even crashes so hard against my ribs when Cress when to see Zeus and told him the news. Jesus! you wouldn't understand the pain if you don't read the book. It's a different kind of pain. A different kind of heartbreak. Really. I just love this book that storyline the character and Big Fat Thank You to for this amazing story. I love it so much and I'm going to read it again and again and again.! Highly Recommended! :)

This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance After The Fall is a conclusion of the first book which features one of my favorite couples-King and Cressida. I will be honest in that I did almost pick up this book before books 2 and 3, it was a huge temptation just because I felt like there was so much more of their story to be told. But I had a feeling I would miss out on the growth of the series from other reviews I had read so I decided that I definitely needed to wait and I am happy that I did. We do get to see moments of them in books two and three but it was so refreshing to see the growth of their relationship in “After The Fall” It’s not going to be what you expect it and honestly, this is a tough book to read. All I will say is read the authors note in the beginning and have FAITH that she will guide you through the storms when you get to it.  After The Fall begins a few years following the first book “ Lessons in Corruption” where our heroine Cressida is teaching at the local college and King is finishing up his degree, but he is more possessive than ever especially when all the college boys want so much of his girl’s attention. But then there are problems building up with the Fallen MC and he and Cress are called back home. So they come back home, Cressida opens up a new bookstore for the town, but there are problems happening. The local police department is giving them issues, and that is an understatement. There are some members of the PD that are trying to do everything they can to shut down the Fallen MC no matter the cost. But when his father is framed for the murder of one of the few cops on their side and trying to do some good, he is now determined to get his father exonerated and freed from prison. But getting him free will come at a great cost, and it will test the unity of the members of the Fallen MC, of the love between King and Cress and will test the resolve of all. Because King will have to make a choice, and its a choice that will cost him dear…. After The Fall is a story that really blew my socks off and I mean that literally. This is NOT an easy romance to read. It is really rough and I will give it to Giana Darling in her delivering such a stor that packs a punch. I honestly wanted to throw my kindle at the wall in the reading of this one because it will TEAR your heart wide open. This author really doesn’t skirt on giving a story that is so packed with so much torment and heart. Now the first half wasn’t so bad, we get to see the journey of King in how he becomes a prospect and he and the Fallen MC perspective from what happens in book three. And I really loved seeing King’s journey and into becoming a fully fledged member in the MC which is his family. We really see a level of corruption within the local PD and I really liked that the author showcased this and how power and greed can consume one especially from someone who help raise King. The plot to this story was so edgy and I was so consumed with the plot and seeing where Giana was taking it. We see so much depths to the connection that King and Cress have together. They grow so much here and it was so beautiful to see.  Now below is a BIG spoiler (so try to only read it if you can do spoilers and not have it ruin the story or you have already read these books)  (view spoiler)[Our hero has to make a choice to fake his death and so everyone but one person believes him to be dead including his wife. This is really painful and heart wrenching because you don’t know that he is alive until it is revealed. (I will be honest I read the ending when this happened because I had to know if he survived) Don’t worry he does. But it really will tear you up to see what losing him does to Cress and how deeply she loved him. This level of grief was something I really related to from a personal past experience.  (hide spoiler)] Overall I found that this story was one I loved and while it tore me to emotional pieces, it also delivered in every way. I just had so much fun seeing this book fall into place and seeing how the plot unraveled. It really will pack a punch onto your emotions but I hope you see this book through all the way and have faith in the author to guide you through it all. I promise she will deliver a epic romance that is majestic in its complexity and an poignant romance to fight for.

OH MY GOD *** SPOILERS *** Okay so i skipped #3 and went straight to this book so let me tell you there was confusion with all the Danner’s. In addition, i had read the 5th book, so I knew King didn’t ACTUALLY die but man oh man did i not cry to the point of hyperventilation when he was off faking his death. just about ruined me. i don’t think i would have been okay if he wasn’t alive. anyways definitely recommend lol

i guess this is one of those cases of 'it's not you book, it's me' but then i think about how the heroine has the personality and depth of a plant and the feeling fades. when i went into this book i thought i would finally get a book written from king's point of view, but instead, cressida got more pov chapters than the hero of his own damn book (after already having had a whole ass book from her perspective) and i started to lose my interest. maybe i would care for the heroine if her entire personality wasn't just reduced to her baking apple pies and not shutting the fuck up about the book 'paradise lost' and adam and eve, but i can't have it all i guess. to me, cressida was still the same annoying ass woman she was in lessons in corruption. she reminded me of those people in high school whom as soon as they get together with someone they absorb their significant other's personality as their own, because they never had one to begin with. i never liked her, and it might be something personal because i just cannot stand the fact that she is literally 30 years old and she still behaves and reacts like a damn teenager. giana's writing got kind of cringy for me in this one as well. it was overly dramatic and poetic when she was writing about the simplest of things, and i just couldn't vibe with it. the dialogues between cressida and king have got to be some of the cringiest things i've read in a romance book in a long time. who the hell talks like they are in a fucking shakespeare play?? every time they'd have a conversation they started spewing poems about their feelings and trying to outdo each other with the cringiest and most saccharine phrases ever. save me from that nightmare please. i also can't remember another MC series that is this incredibly over romanticized and embellished. every single one of the members of every MC in this series is drop-dead gorgeous, like supermodels. it's incredibly unrealistic that every single one of those guys are described as if they were jason momoa or brad pitt, please it's an MC not a runway show. it has to be the fakest fictional MC i've read about, and i've read my share of those, but the fallen men series is the only one i remember being like a group of runway models who happen to be criminals, and that's also starting to bother me. it gets harder and harder to suspend my disbelief whenever i pick up this author's books lately. the one thing i'm gonna give to her is that the plotline was somewhat interesting (even though the resolution was incredibly lame) and that she really knew how to write a book that is spent in the same timeline as 'good gone bad', the third book, without being overly repetitive (unlike a certain author who has written more than 4 books using the same timeline filled with only repetitions *coughcorareillycough*). and the last thing i'd like to address goes to the scene where hot caramel and champagne is dropped into the heroine's coochie. at every romance author out there, it's 2020 can y'all PLEASE educate yourselves and stop writing stuff as if you've never had sex in your lives because anyone knows you don't put shit in your coochie unless you want it to itch like a motherfucker from the yeast infections you're gonna get. so please, stop with the disgusting food scenes unless it involves proper stuff bought for that particular region. it's not sexy, it's not hot, it's literally disgusting and unrealistic. hoping nova's book is better and that the h is somewhat bearable.

“I knew just by the look of her that she was it for me. The one. Romantic thoughts for an eighteen-year-old son of a notorious outlaw motorcycle club Prez, but not unusual for me.” Cress & King. Two perfect halves of a whole. She is his North Star and he is her perfect poet. They are best friends and so incredibly over the moon with one another that their love is magic. “After the Fall,” by Giana Darling is book 4 in The Fallen Men Series. I definitely recommend starting the series in book one, “Lessons in Corruption,” where you first meet Cressida and King. This book picks up in pieces of book three to the present. Seeing a love flourish like Cress and King was undeniably beautiful. Their connection was electric and it moved me in so many ways. The entire Fallen MC is family, and the emotions that this story put me through proves how the Garros and their MC could overcome any situation tossed at them. At one point I was just so broken hearted and in tears that I had to binge this to see it to it’s end. All I can say is every time I read more of this series I say that it’s the best book I’ve read. They keep getting better and better, so much, that I’m anxious for the next story. Thank you for giving us King & Cress - I’m so glad you weren’t done with their story just yet.

WOW!! Giana does it again!! One more book in The Fallen Men that I just couldn't put down. I loved this book so much. This story is intense and had my emotions all over the place. If you are into a hot, sexy emotional M.C. story I do recommend this series. You read this book as a stand-alone but you get to meet characters from previous books so i suggest you start from the beginning. I give this 5 out of 5
