I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars.

As I was recording my January wrap up for my youtube channel, I realized this was a modern-day Cinderella retelling. (I read this on my phone, so I did not read the blurb stating this was a retelling.) I am not sure if that made me like this book more or less, but that seems to be the truth of the matter. 

I honestly liked this book, but it was not a new story to me, and I think it moved too fast. The characters did not feel very fleshed out, and it could have been longer. 

I think adding in the money issues was a fun little side story that I was truly more invested in than the main plot. The only reason I think this is is that the side story had more intrigue than the main story. 

As I said, I enjoyed this story. The biggest issue I had with this story was that I did not connect with any of the characters, so I wasn't super into what happened to them. I think if this book had been a little bit longer and the author had more time to flesh out the characters, I would have enjoyed this book a lot more.
