On later inspection, the pockets of the deceased were found to contain traces of cereals.Yet, it was the incident in the parlour which confirmed Jane Marple's suspicion that here she was looking at a case of crime by rhyme...

Not enough Miss Marple herself, but an interesting read and interesting ending. Solution seems a bit out of the blue, but plausible.

As always, Agatha Christie never disappoints. A well-written and interesting murder mystery to keep you guessing. The ending was quite unexpected. 🤓

This was the May pick for Read Christie 2021...was vaguely familiar with the premise but certainly nothing else! Very clever plot - and an unusual ending, in that, as the book ends, the murderer (who I did NOT guess for a second!) has been identified but not yet arrested. This is because Neele (who I'm sad we don't get in other books, as he's an engaging character in his own right) and Marple have solved the puzzle of who, how and why...but don't yet have quite enough evidence to make it stick. 

Fear not though, dear reader, a highly convenient plot device, er, letter turns up at the last minute so we can rest easy knowing that Miss Marple, like the Mounties, will once again get her man.

The characters in this were both unlikable and uninteresting. If you're going to be hateful at least make me care. I don't want to kill any of you, I just want you to leave me alone. Probably not ideal for a book.
