This was the February pick for Read Christie 2021 and...I wish I could unread 4 of these 14 stories. 

The Case of the Distressed Husband was misogynist trash (and there are flashes of sexist thinking in Have You Got Everything You Want too now I think of it, ugh), The Case of the Rich Woman romanticises false imprisonment and gaslighting, and The Case of the Discontented Soldier is just ALL OF THE CASUAL RACISM, even my beloved Ariadne Oliver gets in on the act which, yeah, no. 

The other 10 stories (one of which also appears in Midwinter Murder) are OK though, which is why I have given the collection as a whole two stars rather than one or even (and then there were) none. 

Definitely preferred the later stories where Pyne actually gets to, you know, INVESTIGATE (murders and thefts and suchlike), as opposed to the earlier stories where he more sort of interferes in people's lives.

This was a really delightful collection of short stories.
I liked how they were quite different from one another.
A few involved rich, bored people who wanted to spice up their lives or their marriage, but some involved solving crimes such as murder, theft or fraud.
Some took place in London and some other in the Middle East and during travelling, which I really liked too.
I find Parker Pyne very funny, he is very smart and observant, and can use his anonymity very well.
It was really a treat of a book.
