The Rogue Crown

The Rogue Crown is a fantasy adventure focused on romance. It features two female characters, Bri and Lina, who despite always being at odds, have more in common than they think.

Content warning for parents, the story does focus on a budding relationship, which includes some mild erotic situations.

This is a third book of a series. Thus has many references to the first two books. However, could be read on its own without too much confusion. 

All books are set in Okrith. A world that includes humans, witches, and fae living in a medieval setting. 5 kingdoms at war, working towards peace.

Book 3 overall was a decent read. In the point of view of Bri, one of the most stalwart fae in the group of Okrith's defenders. Throughout all the series, it is hard not to like her, so it is only fitting she finally gets her own story to tell. She has many layers that only the warrior princess, Lina, seems to understand fully. 

So, all this to say, characters that are interesting. 

The premise is different somewhat from the first two as well. Instead of Bri being the one in trouble, she is the one sent to save. The plot gives her a mystery to solve. This plot line is given closure, but some things are left open for book 4. 

I still favor book two of The Five Crowns of Okrith series, but this is second. A.K. Mulford's writing definitely improving and aging like a fine wine as she continues with this world.

Bri has been asked for help by her friend, and on-off lover, Delta.  When Bri arrives Delta is severely wounded and needs help to protect the new heir of the West, Princess Abalina. 

"The Eagle will seize the crown from its sovereign" has been foretold and those in the Western Court are fearful that Bri is there to seize the crown but this royal Fae has no intention of being Queen of anywhere - she'd rather die in her fighting leathers than bored to death in meetings!

Another great mix of magic, adventure, action and romance.  What I love most about this world is the representation.  Every orientation and colour are represented and none are barriers.  You love who you love and no one bats an eye. 

Dealing with Witch hunters, investigating a witch with violet magic and bodyguard duties for Lina make Bri a very busy woman. Bri and Lina are the epitome of slow-burn and there are a couple of story links that were a bit much (Robin Hood-esque) but the 2nd half of the book fires up and the chemistry between Bri and Lina heats up!
