Sitting Pretty A Novel

As Sidney J. Prettymon tells it, his life in and around San Francisco is based on a simple philosophy: "Play all the possibilities and stagger your bets". Sit, as he's called, is a natural born ladies' man, ne'er-do-well, ex-husband, father, raconteur and a man with strong opinions about most things. His experiences encompass part-time jobs, television stardom, run-ins with the law ("Jail is dull, don't care what anybody say".), a colorful variety of friends, and complex relationships with a number of women, his former wife and grown-up kids. In Sitting Pretty, Al Young has devised a character for the ages: a funny, original and altogether human being whose predicament is as universal as middle age.
