i wasn’t paying attention

Did i miss the point entirely? maybe, idk, this book made very little sense to me but i understand and respect it’s poetic value no i just googled it i did in fact understand it it just doesn’t really resonate with me- it was v readable though so i’d recommend it to all ye existentialist literature lovers

this was good, but it did not match la peste for me. after reading la peste i was left with a heart so full, and after reading this one im not completely empty – i definetly have many questions, and honestly i wish i could analyse this book in class to maybe perceive another dimension to it that would blow my mind some more – but it's just not the same. i could feel that this was not the exact same camus that wrote la peste, and that he and his writing definetly had an evolution in between this time. but what do i do now if i want to read more of his books and have nothing that will make me feel like la peste again? *head in hands*

It is a really good book and very well written in an uncommon way but which is making it pretty easy and fast to read. It was pretty interesting with a reflexion about the death sentence and french justice, which were depicted as pretty absurd (this book was published in 1942 and the death sentence was abolished in France in 1981). I recommend it if you want to read a french classic that isn't complicated but has a message.
