This was a pretty good book. It kept me hooked the entire time.

My only issue was that the central motive felt a little too basic. There was so much potential for the plot to go darker, and I think it could have explored deeper psychological manipulation as well. The writer was already heading in that direction, but I found myself wishing they had pushed it further; made it darker, more twisted, and more intense.

I was hooked throughout, which is why I’m giving it the rating I am. But because it held my attention so well, I also felt it had the potential to do more. To genuinely rattle me. 

I did gasp when I finally arrived at the twist though. So there’s one full star for just being able to surprise me. Quite gripping. I finished it in two days.

This was my most anticipated read of the year and for good reasons too! This, this is the reason why I keep on reading thrillers. Alex Michaelides’ writing was engaging, thought-provoking and keeps you on the edge of your seat. There are a lot of little surprises along the way that I enjoyed until the last chapter and even if you figure out the big twist early on, I think you would’ve enjoyed the journey nonetheless. This is a story of recrimination, loss and redemption that was written beautifully. Also, there have been talks that this is being considered for a movie adaptation. Is it weird that I pictured Benedict Cumberbatch’s face the whole time? I believe he will be perfect for Theo’s character and will surely portray him brilliantly. If you’ve read this, who do you think will be perfect to play Theo and Alicia?

The Silent Patient was an absolutely incredible thriller that kept me hooked from beginning to end. I honestly can’t remember the last time a book pulled me in this much. The suspense, the mystery, and the slow buildup had me constantly trying to piece everything together. What impressed me most was the way the story unfolded and how every detail seemed to have a purpose. The final reveal completely shocked me—it was the kind of twist that gives you goosebumps and makes you rethink everything you just read. The ending was brilliantly executed and stayed with me long after I finished the book. If I had to compare it to another thriller I’ve loved, The Silent Patient is right up there with Look Closer. It’s smart, gripping, and unforgettable. A must-read for anyone who loves psychological thrillers.

This is the first time I'm reading a book with an unreliable narrator and I'm not sure how I feel about it. While reading the book, you are led to believe that all timelines are chronological. That everything is happening at the same time. But when you reach the plot twist nearing the end, you come down to realise that actually the narrator has been telling you two different timelines. At first, it completely spoilt the book for me. But reflecting and reading some others' reviews/explanations, I have come to terms with it. Fortunately, the author managed to tie it all back up nicely. Between the narrator, the accused murderer and her now-dead husband, as well as to the Greek Mythology of Alcestis and her husband Admetus which comes up again and again. I also appreciated the many parallels that appeared between the characters' lives. That being said, there are questions that were left unanswered. Loose ends. Like why was Tanya seemingly afraid of Max? Did Paul not even care about his cousin now even thought they seemed close growing up? Why did Alicia hate her aunt so much? Why did her mother commit suicide? Why did she slit her wrist after shooting Gabriel? Why was Theo portraying this complex of wanting to be a saviour for her when he has Kathy? Was Diomedes such a coward? Overall, a good easy read. Needed a while before I accepted the whole 'unreliable narrator' writing style. 3.5 out of 5

This was a surprisingly intense read. The way the Theo's story entwines around Alicia's without giving up the entire plot/answer was very well written.

 Great book to say the least. The plot revolves a psychological murder mysterby regarding the psychiatric patient who is accussed of murdering her patient and is unwilling to speak up while the protagonoist, a psychotherapist tries to help her and make her confess. The starting gives us alot of insights regarding people and psychological behaviors while the second half was a page turner and extremely gripping. The characters weren't appealing enough however I did get alot of insight regarding human psychology. Alex Michaelides has not studied psychology as his major but he has surely done his research very well.

I was drawn to this book since last year because I've a tiktok where they were shocked on the plot twist. I avoided myself in reading the spoilers because I want the first-hand experience of reading it. Mind you, it's actually a shocking twist! It feels like I was also putting the jigsaw puzzle myself after reading it. 

As a psych student, I found myself completely engrossed by it because it also speak psych terms as Theo is a psychotherapist. I find it sad how unrelieved traumas in childhood could potentially awake again later in adulthood. This is why PARENTS are responsible on the behavior of their children; they should be treated better and full amount of love and attention to them.

this was one of my favorite reading experiences ever. i was as in a reading slump & i ate this up. genuinely incredible idk why i loved reading it so much. i loved the pace and the ending was saur good.

I went into this trying to see what was all the hype about and not really convinced at first. And it isn't until almost the very end that the plot thickens and the plot twists are unexpected. There's some scenes I felt were unnecessary, but overall, a really good book.
