Rainbow Road

Rainbow Road

Alex Sanchez2007
It's the end of the road.... Jason Carrillo came out to his basketball team and lost his university scholarship. Now that he's graduated, he's been asked to speak at the opening of a gay and lesbian high school across the country -- but what is he going to say? Kyle Meeks is getting ready to go to Princeton in the fall. When his boyfriend, Jason, mentions the speaking invitation, he jumps at the chance to go with him -- but can their romance survive two weeks crammed together in a car? Nelson Glassman is happy that his best friend, Kyle, has found love with Jason. Now he wants to find a soul mate of his own and is going to start looking during the road trip -- but will being "third wheel" ruin his friendship with Kyle and Jason?

I love how real this is. The trilogy presents real issues that teens face, gay or straight. The characters are probably some of my favourites of all time. I love the character development, and I really enjoyed seeing them grow. The three boys are as opposite as can be, but yet so similar. It just works. I can't choose a favourite between the three; I love all of them! Kyle and Jason's relationship is wonderful. I like that they were friends first, because it's something that I don't often see. I also like that they have real problems that teens can relate to (i.e discovering all the different sides of the person you're with, and learning to except them). I like seeing Kyle and Jason working to get over their differences and, despite all the stuff that happened, becoming closer at the end. I think this is a trilogy that everyone should read at some point. Sanchez is definitely one of my favourite authors, and I can't wait to read more from him!
