Well, where do I start with this one? 

I guess I knew what I was getting into. A girl who can see ghosts is inevitably going to fall in love with said ghost. And it's a YA novel, so there will most definitely be a love triangle. 

But there was a part of this book (the chandelier scene) where I was like "this is it. If XYZ happens right now, I will DNF this book so dang quickly." Luckily for the book, it took a different direction but dang if this wasn't the most predictable thing I've ever read.

It wasn't really spooky, in the way you would expect a book about ghosts to be, it was just your average, YA angsty love triangle (quadrandle?) drama. 

But here's what this book did really well. The scenery, the aesthetic, were both great for the spooky season mood. The MC's relationship with her little brother was amazing. So often in YA you get siblings who hate each other but these two were very close and I loved seeing something different. And the ending. Not that last sentence cliffhanger (because honestly, couldn't it have just been over with?) but the "final battle" of sorts. It was done very well. I actually cried. Not that it's hard for books to make me cry, but gathering what the rest of the book did for me (not a lot...) it's surprising that it made it there.

This was a pretty MEH book for me - if that review didn't spell it out for you plainly enough - but I do think at some point I may read book two. It's not going to be high on the priority list or anything but when I'm in the mood for this type of book, I know one I can pick up.
