I dont think I really liked the way this was written and took me a while to get into. I also expected more? It was a nice story, just not really for me sadly

This book was lame and predictable, and sadly that’s the best I can say about it. I’m so disappointed since I am such a huge fan of Jane Austen and Pride and Prejudice especially. Unfortunately this book was just a basic and elementary retelling of a story written 200 years ago. The author even includes passages from the book as her protagonists’ dialogue. It was painful to read, fortunately it reads pretty quickly so I was out of my misery a lot sooner that I thought I'd be.

I could not bring myself to finish this book. I tried. I really did. but it just felt so ridiculous, which is not a thing that normally bothers me when reading, but I didn't enjoy it. You could see where everything was going and honestly I've already read Pride & Prejudice and seriously loved it. I don't want to read another modern version of it. If I wanted to read it again I would modern retelling of it isn't what I want. At least not when it's poorly written with extremely unlikable or unrelatable characters.

 For an excellent executed modern retelling I'd watch the Lizzie Bennett Diaries. At least I enjoyed that.

2.5 stars. Okay the concept was actually really good and it had promise, but the execution was kind of terrible. If the story didn’t have the ACTUAL Mr. Darcy involved, it would’ve gone up to 3 stars and would’ve made the story more enjoyable and less cringy. The way the main character was written was...just...really bad. She was immature and jumping to conclusions left and right, and really annoying to read about. But I did like the parallels with Spike. I enjoyed that aspect a lot, but I really didn’t like how slow Emily was to catch on to ANYTHING. But I mean, I didn’t HATE the book. I just wish the book execution was better. So yeah, that’s why I give it a rating of 2.5.

AAAAAAAAHHHHH I'm going to hug this book till it is smoldered the way it smoldered me. I was expecting a lot of cheese to be honest, and was praying for a decent book. But the narration was so playful and light, it was the perfect read for someone who just gets her high from Pride and Prejudice. It is fun, hilarious, so relatable and to top it off it has these scenes where I was totally flipping out on what was real and what was fantasy. 
If I say more I might spoil the experience, so ahead.
