I think I might be slowly turning into an Ali Hazelwood fan… Parts of this book felt very silly, but the romance was swoon-worthy and I literally could not put it down. I need to read the next one ASAP!

This book was literally so good for the first 3/4; I mean Misery And Lowe? They had so much tension but so much chemistry and i was so obsessed with their interactions between eachother. I spent the whole day just thinking of this book, no joke. When could I pick it up again, when could I read about these two? Obviously, like all good romances, they had the break up act. It starts to get so tedious everytime this happens... And maybe I read this book too quickly because then towards the end I found the ending rushed and boring... I was so sure it would be a five star, but four is still great.
I don't know if everyone would enjoy this book, but I think because it's been so long since I read an urban fantasy or a fantasy at all, I just ate it up so quickly. Loved this book, the ending not so much...

definitely for the werewolf loving wattpad girls

I would also like to thank Ao3.

when he cuddled with her!!!!!! No one talk to me

I don’t like the style of writing from Ali, but I still think it was better than other her books.

Good characters, good banter

No matter the page number Ali Hazelwood will write a tall , burly man and yk what? Fine . Spread the agenda queen

I’ve seen no one mention it but this is straight published genderbent Sterek fanfiction and I will not be convinced otherwise???

Too predictable and I was annoyed with how oblivious some of the characters were to what was right in front of them. The spice was also out of my comfort zone. Overall this book was knot for me…

🦇 Bride Book Review 🦇

❓ QOTD What's your favorite paranormal romance?
🦇 Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast until she's called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres. Their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear he doesn't trust Misery, with reason: going after the only thing she's ever cared about. She's willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory…alone with the wolf.
💜 Positives:
✨ Strong character voice and narration. Loved seeing Misery form connections--which become relevant to her growing priorities. Absolutely adored Lowe, and the small insights into his thoughts at the beginning of each chapter was cute. The side characters, however, fall flat. I could barely differentiate the characters, especially given that the wolves form a large, nearly indistinguishable cast. Also, the villain is FLAT. You don't have to guess who it is; it's obvious there's going to be a double cross from the start.
✨ I loved that the "marriage of convenience" trope was a distraction to the true plot: a mystery. I do wish the hints had been subtle, to slowly make us think Misery didn't have ulterior motives at least for a FEW chapters. The reveal wasn't very surprising--if you've read enough mystery novels, I'm sure you super sleuths will figure it out within act one.
✨ The pacing is steady, but as with many romance novels, things rush once there's a single moment of intimacy. It seems like an excruciating slow burn until lust is involved; then it gets messy.
✨ Hazelwood creates a unique supernatural world that fits the story perfectly, driving shared motivations on each side of a long-standing (familiar) war.
✨ Alright, I know you're all waiting to hear it: the romance was HOT. Usually, I have zero interest in a marriage of convenience plot, but the way it's built through found family just...WORKED. I adored the banter between Lowe and Misery (gimme forced proximity + sass any day). The smut itself was...eh. I did enjoy Misery's sisterly connection, which reminded me of CC--that 'us against the world, ride or die' vibe.

I would take her healthy, or sick, or tired, or angry, or strong, and it would be my fucking privilege. What can I say? They had good banter & I love when a man is obsessed with his wife 🤷🏼♀️

I just don't think that this was my Cup of Tea at all - I think I'm more confused at the end of the book then I was at the start

fun and easy read about very not-paranormal paranormal beings
was pretty excited to read a book with lots of tropes!
tropes on deck (/pos): marriage of convenience, my WIFE, he fell first, he fell harder
lots of lowe lying to himself and misery interpreting every interaction as negative despite her man being obviously obsessed with her

enjoy the fantasy plot line, but i was so confused at the end when the dad was nonstop yapping like a villain explaining the plans, also what the fuck is knotting… i didn’t understand that concept neither, but really enjoy both main characters, but how the fuck are u twins and one is called OWEN and the other MISERY, like they hated her from the start

SOOOOOOO GOOD!!!

This was fun! MC's had nice banter, and there was some mystery ploy line. Easy to read, I breezed through it.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

4,5 ⭐️ i’d so many feeling while reading this, at first i thought i’d hate it but when i got to 30% i just couldn’t stop reading i really liked the touch of fantasy in Ali’s writing, she should invest more in this genre

I loved how fast-paced this book was!! The spice made me remove a star but overall I really enjoy Ali Hazelwood's writing style. It's never boring, the banter is chef's kiss, and the characters were so relatable.

i’m putting this as a 5 star book because i was thoroughly entertained but if u read this book because you saw i rated it 5 stars, HAHAHAHAH. i had tears in my eyes at the last chapter which i think was supposed to be serious. im like actually still laughing about it. i don’t think ill ever stop

Paranormal romance is not my thing but ali hazelwood's writing is still good.

Ali Hazelwood has solidified herself as a must-buy author for me. I don’t tend to read vampire/werewolf/paranormal type stories like this — but this was fantastic and I will definitely be checking out more! It was incredible world building and character development for a standalone, and such a great plot. Loved, loved, loved it!
Highlights

MAYBE (

"Misery. I want to live inside you."
I bet you Hazelwoods smug ass was giggling when she wrote this 🙄

"Shut up, Lowe."
I am nearing the end of the book and still don't know how to pronounce his name.

"A knot. It's called a knot." I savor the word in my head, marveling at how well it fits.
LMFAOOO

"There might be pleasure in that, too. The satisfaction of knowing that something beautiful exists." His lips open and close a few times, as though he can only find the right words by shaping them first to himself. " Maybe some things transcend reciprocity. Maybe not everything is about having."

" So far, Humans are worse. They do shit like burning the Amazon rainforest or leaving the toilet seat up at night. Anyway, anything you need from me?"
Missy speaks of the real problem: Men.

And then Koen appears behind Emery, leaning against the doorjamb with a shit-eating grin. “I, for one, am glad the kids are having fun.”

I got

"Mine." It's a rumble in his throat. "You smell like you're mine, Misery."

“You got hitched to a guy who could kill you any second of any day. How are you bored?”
this is so unserious oh my god 😭

"What I am is an adult woman with agency and the tools to make choices. Feel free to, you know, treat me accordingly."
