When I picked this book up I was very excited. It had everything I love in a good book. It was a romantic novel and supposedly had tons of Richard Curtis references, the genius of rom-com! The title even mentions four weddings and a funeral and love actually. But alas, I did not enjoy this book half as much as I so desperately wished. 

I really understand what the author was trying to do, but for me, it just didn't work. The plot definitely had potential but I found there was too much focus on the brooch and the whole back story of finding the original owner of the brooch. Of course, by the end, it all fell into place and I can honestly say the last few chapters are the only ones I truly enjoyed and the only time where I felt compelled to read on. 

If you're looking for some good old-fashioned chick lit I would give this one a miss. 

The characters weren't all that realistic. I found Scarlett to be kind of gray. I didn't particularly like her and I didn't really dislike her so it was a really tricky one. I liked Oscar at first but as the book went on he just started to drive me up the wall. 

I'm a sucker for some good imagery and that was something I felt this book really lacked. A boost in its descriptions would have made me enjoy the book much more. Seeing that it was set in New York there really was no excuse!

Some people might love it, others might hate it; I'm afraid I was the latter.
