i read most of another alice coldbreath book quite a few months ago and decided to give her another try! i heard this one was like... fine haha like not one of her best works, so only up from here, right? i enjoyed certain aspects of it -- like for example, i liked that the lenora we get to know in the story was not quite traditionally pretty, and even had scars on her face. this resonated a lot w me considering i have been dealing w rly rly rly bad acne + acne scars for the past year lol and in general i quite liked lenora BUT. i don't quite like that she was afraid of garman’s reaction to things + felt like she had to tiptoe around garman all the time. they clearly started falling in love w each other about halfway through the book, but garman did not have the emotional maturity to process that and instead treated her so tersely and pushed her away like a moody teen. he couldn't make up his mind about whether or not he wanted to pull her closer or push her further away, and it was annoying that he just couldn't realize / admit to loving her. the story wrapped up conveniently and sweetly, so i don't think it was a total waste to read, but garman was lacking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT i was worried there would be an accidental pregnancy storyline what w garman being unable to pull out (lmfao ugh) but tg there wasn't -- THOUGH i also dislike stories where it's like eeehh i don't rly want a kid --> i wouldn't mind having a kid with YOU... NOOOO CHILDREN SHOULD BE LOVED AND GENUINELY TRULY WANTEDDDDDD

anyway. yeah idk if i will try another alice coldbreath book again -- maybe after some quite a few more months! hahaha
