A lot of filler chapters, I want to read the next one but only because I want to read about Emma again

This books starts of with some potential, perhaps it's a bit juvenile or maybe that just the main character but either way I was interested in the plot and the outcome. However by the end I was left wondering if it was worth it. It fizzles out very quickly, it didn't make me feel anything. When comparing this to series such as The Blood of Eden or really any supernatural series this book falls flat. It lacks substance and I'm unsure if I'll bother with the next books.

So much better than expected. Awesome... mostly. Ali is a bit of a roller coaster. I do like her character and her voice but I am appalled at her inability to be a stronger woman for herself. She grows stronger and more independent as she progresses but at times her voice is so weak. Her self control is weak and is appalling. Through most of this book I just wanted her to see herself first. It rarely happens. On the other hand Pops and Nana make Ali's story come alive. They are a hoot. Kat too is a bit of a roller coaster. She is arrogant and demanding and it is obviously an attempt to distract others. I wasted a lot of thought on what her angle could be. Cole just seems to be a normal book character to me. I don't love him and I don't dislike him. The visions are the most interesting aspect of Cole. Over all I really did like this book. It took a bit to really get hooked but by the time I finished I was ready to get the other three books in the series. It also has mad it's way to my repeat read list. It's a short list.

I couldn't finish this book, the author paraphrased the bible so much that it was hurting my brain. I wanted to continue the book because the love story that was building between Cole and Alice seemed solid but the rest was just bland to me.
