Montgomery Bonbon: Murder At The Museum

I think this book was very well written for a mystery aimed at a younger audience. I liked how the author had Bonnie disguised as a foreign detective; that way, she was able to learn the local words and phrases more easily and had a good excuse for not knowing certain things about the country she was in. However, I don’t think the author should have made her disguise herself as a male detective. I feel like there was a great opportunity to show young girls that they, too, can solve murder mysteries and be like a female Sherlock Holmes—but instead, the author chose to have her pose as a man in order to succeed.

That said, I do feel the author added just enough intrigue at the end to keep readers hooked for the next book in the series. I would also love to see Bonnie become friends with Mr. Hornville’s daughter, Dana, and for Bonnie, her grandpa, and Dana to become a murder mystery–solving trio.
