*4.5 stars* It's refreshing to read a book set in Asia once in a while. Asian culture never ceased to amaze me and this book is all about ancient Chinese martial arts. And there is also dragons! With a male-disguised female protagonist, what more could I ask for? This story follows Eon and his journey on becoming one of the Dragoneyes' apprentice. But the Mirror Dragon which has been lost for five hundred years returned and chose Eon as it's Dragoneye. But a female Dragoneye is forbidden, and Eon's real name is Eona. Instead of a 'he', Eon is actually a 'she'. If her real identity is discovered not only her life is the cost, but also theirs who she loved. This one plunges right into action and makes you craving for more. The setting is foreign but the world building is easy to get into and makes it bearable. The characters are likeable and some of them just plain HILARIOUS, like badass Eon and Prince Kygo *swoon*. However, the story is quite hard to get into at the beginning and the ending is so abrupt and felt a bit too rushed. But i promise you it is worth the time and gets soo much better once you get into it!

Eon made me want to stay up all night until I finished the book , it was a real page turner for me. I really enjoyed the concept of mythical dragons.

I’ve held on to a copy of this book for a very long time, and I think that is somewhat reflected in my view of it.
I enjoyed the blend of Chinese/Japanese elements in the story, but the world building and spirit-magic just felt a little off to me. In addition, I’m normally not one to guess the twist or ending of a book, but this was so obvious that even I figured it out. And that just made me so infuriated with our MC because of how long it took her to even consider the possibility. That classic MC brooding alone over her failures and inabilities really just kind of lessened my interest in the story.
I would say I enjoyed the story overall, and I will read the second one. Just maybe not right away!

A little predictable but i liked it

Maybe more like a 3.8. It was good, just really confusing. And part of it was just aggravating. But it was still good!

Oh my goodness!! I can't wait to read the next book!!!

I absolutely LOVED this book! It was astounding to read, and was right up my alley, since I am studying Chinese. The cover is what drew me to it in the first place. I have the book that has the cover with the Mirror Dragon and Eona on the front. I could not be more happier with the purchase of this series. The characters are very well thought out and developed wonderfully throughout the story. I cannot wait to read the rest of the series.

This book took me too long to reread. I had so much happen in my personal life that reading was put to the side. aside from that, I enjoyed this book (again) and it’s reinvigorated me to continue the duology. This was really intriguing being in a different culture with the main character, a female, having to pass as a man to further the ambitions of her master and help them survive. Unwillingly she also becomes the main player in a power struggle for the throne. The dragons are awesome and I can’t wait to see more of the mirror dragon in Eona.
