Splendid read. 

Nearly every chapter is circular in dimension. Herriot begins by mentioning an observation, then humorously dives into a story about an outting or vet visit. These stories come back to the observation, usually making commentary about human tendencies. I appreciate the humour and warmth in Herriot's novels, and continuously come back to these novels. This is the first novel I have fully finished. 

I would recommend this to anyone who has a great love for both animals and humans.
