Reviews

This book is perfection period. I was really speechless toward the end and the PLOT TWIST !!!! My jaw was on the floor !!

All I can say is that this book was significantly better than the first two installments š¤·š»āāļø

Found this one hard to follow at times bc there was a lot of equations but very good overall. Loved the twist

The beginning of this book was so good but towards the end I got a little lost. This series continues to be addictive and engaging. JLB is such an amazing and vivid writer and I just love it

This one was the first one from the series that actually chocked me and I did not expect any of that wow

That ending!!! What do you mean??
I enjoyed the psychology and the mystery of this, learning more about the characters and their relationships with one another. Mrs Barnes really put her whole PHD into this one.
I did think when it came to Cassieās motherās case it wouldnāt be as cut and dry and wouldnāt you know it. At times the found family felt very forced and I want to know more about Judd and Briggs past as well as the other characters. Maybe weāll find out more about Lia but i enjoyed getting to know more of Sloane past. HANG IN THERE GORL!!!
I will say the romance in this is not hitting I donāt feel any chemistry from those two which is a bit of a let down but if you enjoy the NCIS aspect of this then you can just overlook that.

That ending though!!!!
I cannot wait to continue this series!!

Ok now this is the level of plot twists Iāve been craving!

AMAZING. The fucking plot twists at the end?!? I really wasnāt expecting that. I was engaged during the whole book and (obviously) all my theories were wrong.

wtf. that was the most surprised by a crime book I think I have ever been. wtf. wtf. wtf. š²ā„ļø

this book is stupid */ continues reading

well cult regression i suppose

I love Sloane š«¶š¼ Also the plot twist at the end shocked me

I love these kind of books but cults always freak me out and I finished this at night so yeah picture me scared

3.5 stars actually but imma be kind and give it 4 starsš anyways idk if im just slow dumb stupid idk but it was so confusing there was SO MANY suspects famš it didnāt hit as good as the other two books so i was not that interested to read it for a few days hahaā¦ yea but the last few chapters alwayssssss gonna have the most jaw dropping plot twists and i love it ummm i just hope the last book which is book 4? if im not wrong is AS GOOD AS BOOK 1!!! please

THIS WAS SO GOOD OMG i stayed up until 1am to read this

** spoiler alert ** 3.75 iām not gonna lie the i got bored at first and i was only reading because of michael but oh my god iām so glad i finished it cuz what the hell is that ending. cassie having a little sister? what?????? her mom possibly alive???????? one thing i will always eat up are fictional serial killers being described as having kind eyes despite killing ppl. out of the first two books iād say this book has the best ending despite the first few chapters being a bore (for me personally) also i saw a bit of personality on dean in this book. the way he cared for lia and sloane? itās cute and sweet that heās willing to do anything to protect them. when aaron shaw showed up wanting to talk to sloane and dean grabbed a butcherās knife before inviting him? okay dean i see you. i canāt say i like dean and cassieās relationship. I DONT HATE IT but i love them as individual characters but them together? i canāt sense the chemistry iām sawrry i know they share the same burdens as profilers which makes them perfect for each other but i personally donāt see the spark. i NEED michael to be happy in the next book OR ELSE. because this scene: āI'm your friend.ā āYou used to look at me and feel something,ā Michael said. āI know you did.ā oh thatās just evil.

This series has been so good. Iām kind of mad at myself for not having the last audiobook because this one really leaves you hanging. I need to know how this series wraps up. This is my second favorite in the series. Killer Instinct is still my favorite so far, plot and character-wise. I do love how Jennifer is able to highlight all of the characters in the book even though itās all 1 POV. It takes real skill to have me so heavily invested about side characters as much as the main one in a series. Just know that as soon I can I will be finishing up the series and will sad and happy to do so.

I fricken love criminal psychology

glad I continued reading bc this one was very good, the casino plot was engaging, everything with michael and sloane was peak, and I have finally come around to the cassie and dean arc more. the overarching series plot continuation was also good though no spoilers but the part at the end about her motherās murder was a little predictable like I did call it two books ago, though not in the way I was expecting. will not say more for spoiler purposes! sadly library doesnāt have the next one so Iām stuck waiting a while for it :(

i love everyone equally but i love sloane a little more

Ok this is probably a 4.5 stars because I REALLY LIKED THIS BOOK! I FLEW through most of this book ,and can I just say , JENNIFER LYNN BARNES, HOW CAN YOU THINK OF SO MANY PLOT TWISTS AGAIN AND AGAIN IN EVERY BOOK. I feel like everyone 5 seconds, Cassie makes a big break in the case and almost about faints because of how surprising it is, AND I LOVE IT. If you have ever seen the tv series "The Following" and seen how every little thing is thought out so meticulously and just works out so unexpectedly, THIS BOOK IS A LOT LIKE THAT BUT EVEN BETTER IN SOME WAYS!!! The ending, along with pretty much the whole book, has AMAZING PLOT TWISTS and I am the most eager the read the next book out of the others in the series, but I am also so sad that it is the last book!!!!!! Anyways, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this whole series (so far) to anyone who loves mystery or crime shows/books or likes shows like the following, criminal minds, etc. anyways, I almost definitely will read this book again sometime in the maybe not so distant future, but I don't know if it can ever be the same now that i know the giant plot twist/reveal. Any ways, that is just some of what I have to say about masterpiece, so basically, JUST READ IT, IT'S GREAT. **ALSO READER DISCRETION ADVISED- THERE IS A LOT OD KILLING AND DEATH AND CREEPY SERIAL KILLER THOUGHTS BUT I PROMISE IT'S WORTH IT, OK THIS MAY OR MAY NOT CHANGE TO A 5 STAR BECAUSE I CANT STOP RAVING

So many plot twists!

This has been my favorite in the series so far. It felt more psychological and twisty than the previous two books, and I couldn't get enough. I loved how we got to learn more about Sloane and her background. She's one of my favorite characters, and it broke my heart to see what she went through. Like in the previous book, I guessed the culprit but still enjoyed seeing it all play out. I'm constantly impressed with how Barnes' brain works and how she can craft such a compelling story. How she has Cassie step herself into the minds of killers is so fascinating to me. I also liked how this one ties into what happened to Cassie's mother, which led to them discovering a larger conspiracy. I'm so excited to read the last book, but I don't want this series to end.
