Almost Missed You A Novel
Reviews

I read Jessica Strawser’s second novel: Not That I Could Tell before this one, and I’m glad I did. She definitely improved in her writing between her first and second novels. Almost Missed You is certainly a different tale, and it brings to light the fears that everyone has - what if we don’t really know the people we think we know? It didn’t feel as suspenseful as second novel, but there is still enough mystery to make you want to finish it. As the story unraveled I found myself wondering how Violet and Finn ever came to be together because she makes it clear that she knew there were parts of him that she didn’t quite understand. A relationship built on that kind of rocky foundation is bound to crumble. I was much more intrigued with Caitlin and what her big, blackmail worthy secret was. I think of we’d had a little more background in her husband’s family’s political history it would have made more of an impact. The story was good, and I would recommend it to other readers, but if you are looking for a suspenseful kid napping story - this isn’t it.
