This book was surprisingly well written! I didn't think I would ever like a book as much as Ally Carter's, Gallagher Girls. But this defiantly shocked me at how much I enjoyed reading this. Just like in the summary, Maggie Silver is a 16 year old safe cracker. One of the bests actually. She's the daughter of 2 infamous spies, that being said, her parents suggest a mission to Maggie that their "boss" gave them. To be a normal 16 year old, attend high school and well.. Befriend a boy ;) This is where the 'romance' part of the story begins. I will admit, I didn't actually read this book because of the romantic part of it. I love spy books ! Which nowadays is sooooo hard! Wanna know why? Cause I'v practically read all of them :( Back to the storyline!! hehehe. Basically, she goes to high school for the first time and finally sees the boy she's supposed to befriend, Jessie Oliver. A lot of event that even surprised me happens and the end is a big shock! The one who surprised me the most would have to be Jessie. I expected him to be some hot, jerk that wouldn't give the time of day to Maggie. Which I was wrong! He was sweet and nice and actually connected with Maggie. This is a must read, I'm telling you !

Also Known As is a fast-paced fun story about a family of spies. Maggie and her parents have been spies for as long as she can remember. Her special talent as a safe cracker and lock picking prodigy make her invaluable to her parents, but their next assignment takes them to New York where Maggie must go undercover as a high school student in order to stop the printing of a newspaper article that is about to be written unveiling the organization that Maggie and her parents work for called "The Collective." When Maggie falls for her "target," Jesse, and makes more than a pretend friendship with a sassy loner named Roux, things get more complicated than Maggie ever imagined. This story has lots of action and scenes that are both funny and poignant. Overall a nice light and enjoyable read.

** spoiler alert ** If you're looking for a tightly written spy thriller, this is not the book. But, if you want a novel with a fun premise and a little romance, this book will do the trick. I really wish all the character descriptions were a bit more detailed. Maggie was great. I loved how she talked to herself and needed to give herself pep talks. I totally am the same way Jesse Oliver was cute and sincere and a little bit dorkie but in the best way possibly. How could she possibly say no? He was like the cutest wounded puppy in the litter. The only downfall to the entire book was possibly the lack of super spying.

Originally posted on Lost in Literature. Hehe... I still giggle after reading the synopsis. I was so eager to jump right into this one. Just the thought of a spy daughter had me so excited. Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I haven't read a book in a longgggg time that had anything to do with spies... especially one like this. And it didn't disappoint. Also Known As was so much fun! I have to start by saying Benway's writing style is amazing!! Seriously, this book was hilarious!! I laughed out loud more than I ever have in a book before. If nothing else, this book was comical. But trust me... there's plenty more I can say good about it. :) Maggie is a spy, who's the daughter of two spies, who are constantly doing spy things. She doesn't know anything different. Her entire life has been like this. To her utter excitement, she's assigned to a job where she will get to go to high school. Yes, a REAL high school! She will finally get to act like a child her own age!! She will get to go to parties, and have friends, and meet boys... ooooh, the boys. ;) Poor Maggie is definitely awkward when it comes to "real life", which makes for such a silly and funny story. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire adventure, from her first party to her entertaining romance, if we can call it that... it was work-related and ordered, after all... I would totally recommend this book. It was laugh-out-loud funny and I loved every minute of it! The characters were so much fun and made the story what it was. I will definitely be looking into Benway's other books.
