With origins that span the length and breadth of Africa, the twenty-one wordsmiths have spun us tales that are as intriguing, diverse, yet strangely linked as the continent they represent. Examined closely, we would find that the dissimilarities are neither geographic nor ethnic, even when certain authors actually thought that their characters were exhibiting specific ethnic and cultural tendencies. This is not only because emotional naivety or pain and bewilderment are universal, but also because the collection exposes a general African landscape that is uniformly bewildering in every vital aspect: social, political and economic.
