“Rules for Heiresses” is a childhood friends-to-enemies-to-lovers historical romance that centers around a rebellious, opinionated spitfire of an heiress and a shunned or more-so once thought dead duke who meet in the most unlikely circumstances and are forced to marry after being caught in an a compromising situation.
 
Cue in the wishy-washy should they, shouldn’t they act on their desires while struggling with their inner turmoil about why the relationship wouldn’t work plot. The back and forth, particularly in Lord Courtland case, was repetitive and the storyline itself drawn out in some parts but overall, this was a fairly decent novel. I enjoyed the banter, pining, and sizzling chemistry between the leads, and despite the heroine being a ‘virgin bride’, she was far from shy in embracing her desires. And shockingly enough, had a backbone. Hooray! 
 
All in all, an impressive read and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

I really loved the story of Ravenna and Courtland.. We first meet Ravenna while she is dressed up as a man, playing cards.. She is a sassy spifire who has her own opinions on everything. She wont let anyone sway the way she thinks even if she is in the minority.. Courtland is heir to a dukedom, and was sent away as a child. In fact he was once engaged to Ravenna.. Courtland is a shrewd buisness man, who has refused to return to England because there is nothing left for him there. His stepmother sent him away, and his brother has always been super hateful towards him.. 
When Ravenna recognizes Courtland in Antigua, they have no idea how this is going to change both of their lives.. 
At first neither one of them wants this marriage, but the chemistry between them is FIRE, and they can't seem to keep their hands off each other when they are in the same place.. However Courtland knows that even though is is a duke, because of his mixed blood, the ton will not accept him.. and this will cause problems for Ravenna.. Even though she does not care a whit about what anyone thinks.. 
I really love them as a couple, and I LOVE Ravenna.. She is always her own person, speaks her mind, and stands up for others.. She can shoot, and take care of herself in any situation.. All Courtland wants to do is protect her, even if she fights him kicking and screaming. 
Neither Courtland or Ravenna could have forseen what their chance meeting would bring about.. I loved everything about this and now have to go and read the book that came out before this one, and look forward to more books by this author..

Yeah, this book and me just didn't mesh. I thought this book was so boring. I didn't feel any chemistry between our two main characters. Unless you call getting horny as fuck as soon as you see the other person great chemistry, then yes they had a lot of chemistry. Seriously though, the two of them couldn't have a conversation without at least one of them thinking about how badly they wanted to fuck the other. That just got so tired so quickly for me. I also feel like these two never properly talked to each other until the very end. Most of the time they're talking it just ends with them arguing because neither of them puts in the effort to understand where the other person is coming from. Honestly, nothing about their romance worked for me. But luckily this book isn't just romance. The side plot was kind of interesting to me. However, that also kind of fell flat in the end. I just think it got like very preachy and it just got a few eye rolls from me. So yeah, me and this book aren't really friends.
