This book was definitely not as good as I remember it being when I read it in my early teens. I think it would have been better left in the nostalgia of the past.

To be frank, the main character is a self-absorbed edgelord with no thoughts about minding the feelings of others. No one wants to be around her for unknown reasons? Even though she’s super pretty? Give me a break. She’s an asshole. I’d avoid her too if I saw how she treated people.

Aubrey is still my favorite part of the book, but even he wasn’t as strikingly romantic as I remember him being.

The concept of the story line is still quite interesting, but it’s really not meant for adult readers. I just wasn’t as impressed this time around.

I read this book in 6th grade and devoured it. I still remember what the story is about and highlights I thought at the time were wonderful.

The author is amazing, I highly recommend her.

I am totally suckered back into loving this series! It must have been early high school when I first read these books, so I suppose some of the love comes from nostalgia. However, I also just genuinely enjoy the stories. Even if they are a little rough around the edges. Got to appreciate the strong female main characters. And who doesn't wish some devilishly handsome brooding man would fall for someone like myself! It's all fantasy, and all in good fun. Not a heavy read, with lots of action, and good characters.
