Reviews

I received an ARC of this book from the author and I voluntarily reviewed it. Thank you Amo Jones! This book was different from what I expected. Different in the sense that there was a duality to it I did not see coming. A duality that both works and makes me twitchy. MANIK vs Aeron. Jekyll and Hyde in a sense. I was expecting a full-on dark rapper with dark rhymes and daemons eating at him. I mean there was some of that, but I craved more of it. It felt like it came second to his second life - to his family business. I wanted to bask in the darkness of MANIK's mind, and less in Ae's, if that makes any sense at all. I craved more darkness. I feel like his persona could have been pushed more. There were definitely some cool elements in this book. I loves the characters. As always, Amo Jones creates some extremely lovable secondary characters. Lenny, and Kat being the best sassy and heart warming friends ever to Beat. Can I just say that character naming was ON FUCKING POINT? This book did NOT lack Amo Flair. Yes, I just decided that was a thing - start a hashtag people, let's start a movement. It had all the twists and turns of a Jones plot. As soon as you think you've figured it out, she throws you a curve-ball that will leave your head spinning and say to yourself: "What the fuckerdoodle did I just read" ← Do not judge the lingo, it'll catch on one day, I'm sure. It also had some beautiful lines, some that will make your heart race due to the intensity, and some that will make you swoon like a little girl over Prince Charming. Yes, I just called MANIK swoon worthy. I'll even go as far as say that he has his moments where he's a cutie. *looks over shoulder* don't tell him I said that *runs*. Anyways, I think Amo Jones' writing gets better with every book she writes. Her style develops and her flair intensifies #AmoFlair. I want to see her push the darkness more. I feel like she has it in her. She just needs to "let the devil in" *mic drop* Actually, *picks mic back up again*, I also want to say that Amo Jones also tackles some heavy subjects in this book, and I'm proud of her for it. I'm proud she did it, and didn't beat around the bush about it. Now I'm done. *mic drop*
