Tacet a Mortuis The Elite Kings Club #3
Reviews

“As graceful as a floating swan, but as deadly as a silver bullet.” Wow. Wow. Wow. UGH!! This book. I don’t know what to say here. Like, I really want to give this four stars because I loved books one and two and I enjoyed parts of this book. But I felt like I didn't live up to my expectations. The first half of the book was just like a retelling of books one and two and by the end it just felt like a rush to the finish line. I deeply wanted to love this book as much as I love the other two but I just can't. This book was just simply, okay. That’s all I have to say. Sorry for the short review, but I just am so disappointed. I am still excited to read Malum: Part 1, Malum: Part 2 and Sancte Diaboli as well as any other books she has planned up her sleeves for The Elite King's Club Series. This one just didn't do it for me. ⭐⭐⭐

3.5 Stars I didn't realize this series was back but seeing as I see to be in the mood for some darker reads lately this worked out perfectly. I'm not sure how I feel about these books as a whole, especially because I went into Tacet a Mortuis thinking this would be the last book and surprise surprise it's not! I'm weirdly addicted to this completely fucked up mafia world but at the same time not super invested the story. I did however like this one better than the last one which I found a bit all over the place. Unfortunately, as a whole, it's just not quite there for me. Still, even though this is one messed up story I can't deny it's also a page-turner and easy to get lost in. I do like enough of the characters that I'm likely to continue on when the new one comes out, but not really concerned with needing to read it right away.

My brain is just… What the fuckery was that? I don’t have any more brain cells after this book. And apparently, things get even crazier after this. Like, how can it possibly get crazier?!

I absolutely love this series! I’m a great lover of YA and this is mature YA at its best. I love the Society, and family, that has been built here. The Kings are hot, but also kind of sweet and loving, which is a great juxtaposition. Madison is sassy and Tate is a great balance for her. What I loved most about this book is that we’re finally getting answers, as well as handy recaps, although I would recommend RE-reading the first books as well. One thing that did bother me was up until about 60% through the editing was fine. A few inconsistencies but I could overlook them. Then the wheels started to fall off. I have had an issue with the editing in Amo’s previous book (I DNFed at 40%) and hope this is rectified before release. Another thing that bothered me were some of the language choices. “dawg” and “throwing up duces” to me just didn’t fit, it seemed a bit try-hardish, as did the constant song references. They were great but I don’t think that many need to be included, shades of Drive here but nowhere near as meaningful or poignant. Still, i loved this book and I’m glad it ended the way it did, even if there were less twists and turns that I was expecting.

2,5⭐* Tillie se merece el mundo

This is the final book in Madison and Bishop's story. Holy *#$% this has been a wild ride! This series has so many twists and turns. I felt on the edge of my seat the whole time. Just when you think you have it all figured out.. nope! Bishop and Madison's chemistry is explosive and I loved watching their relationship, and their ability to let someone else in and feel, evolve. Excited to move on to Nate and Tillie next! Oh.. and that deleted scene.. jeez 🥵

We really got to see the feels come out with the EKC boys in this third book. Although it’s the conclusion to “Madship”, Madison and Bishop’s POV, I feel connected to all of The Kings at this point. I once again listened and read this one and I really have to give credit to Lucy Rivers and Teddy Hamilton. They were excellent choices. Lucy demonstrated immense talent with the amount of detail needed in certain scenes. Reading Bishop navigate his feelings of falling in love with Madison without knowing how that emotion feels is heart melting. Even more so because since he’s young, he’s truly never experienced it with anyone but Madison. His feelings run so deep and he loves so hard. Their intensity is tangible throughout the pages. Don’t get me wrong though, he is still an asshole and I am so glad he didn’t turn to complete mush for her. He had to make some tough decisions and he made the right ones, despite how his heart felt. At this point I’ve realized Amo has not just created a secret society but a secret kingdom. A secret, twisted kingdom with a new generation of a likes in which they have never seen in its ranks before. Yet at the same time you know it’s still so much bigger than them, there are still obstacles in their way to overcome. There are also major kick ass girl vibes that I was dying to see come to life. Lemme just say Bishop’s mom is my forever favorite. The ending leads you right into Nate and Tillie’s duet and trust me when I say you’re ready for their time now that it’s come.

I’m so happy that this book FINALLY answered all my questions! Mad’s and Bishop are happy together and all is well with the Elite Kings

I received an ARC of this book from the author and I voluntarily reviewed it. Thank you Amo Jones! What the actual f*ck did I just read. This was such a complex, layered book where so many of our questions are finally answered, yet those now resolved questions are replaced by new questions rendering us just as puzzled as when we began the book. This story is so well crafted, and I just feel the need to underline it. There are so many plot layers in this book, and as soon as you think you have it figured out, that layer gets peeled away revealing a game-changer, where you will be saying in true Amo fashion : "Jesus take the wheel". I fell in love with characters I never thought I would fall in love with. We see a whole other facet to these complex characters; these characters who are just as layered and question-igniting as the plot itself. We see some of their meticulously built walls crumble, or lose some bricks allowing us a peek inside them. You will see a whole other side to Bishop, to Brantley, to Nate, to Hunter, damn, to every King. You will see that things do affect them just like they affect us. You will see that their masks slip, and you will love it. Amo has developed an artistic flair to her writing - a poetic side with beautiful musicality. This was a turning point for this series I think. Despite the plot being just as stratified as three planet earths put together, the quality of the writing in this one surpasses the previous books in the series, giving this one so much more depth. Some passages were awe-worthy, not because of their "mind-f*ckery", but because of their words. Because of how simple words strung together can express something profound. How mear letters can make you feel a massive wave of emotion; how mear letters can affect someone. I think it is important to also point out that I gave up sleep for this book. I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning to finish this, because I could not put it down. The mear thought of doing so didn't sit right with me. Amo Jones is a master of not only intrigue building but intrigue maintenance - I know, I'm not very eloquent today, but what I'm trying to say is that it's relatively simple to create an intriguing premise, but it is difficult to keep that intrigue up for, oh, three whole novels and counting. *cue standing ovation* So if you hadn't already gathered from reading one of my longest reviews yet, well, this book is the best one in the series thus far, and a beautiful turning point in Amo Jones' writing.

Highlights

“Hey.” He tilted my head to face him. “This shit with you and I, it’s always been messy, fucking chaotic, but that’s just us. Don’t resent that, baby.”
I love Bishop

“He pulls me in, makes me feel things, gives me incredible sex and tells me everything I want to hear, and then after all the excitement is done, he goes back to telling me that I’m just a bit of fun and that we can’t go anywhere.”
“Congratulations, you’re sleeping with a male.”
😂😂😂😂

When I looked around the table at all their faces, I now understood the saying blood means nothing, loyalty means everything.

“It’s fucking you, Madison. You’re the only person walking this earth that could ever figure me out. You’re the only fucking person walking this earth that I truly know I’d kill a motherfucker for, and you’re the only fucking girl walking this earth that has me.”
😭

Bishop was my kryptonite, but I was no Lois Lane, and he was no Superman. What he was? Was an addiction I couldn’t break.

She was the only person walking this earth who had the power to fuck my head up. I didn’t like that—at all. I was Bishop fucking Hayes, always in control of my shit. Except her.

“Fuck! What’s a girl gotta do to get laid around here.” I huffed, pushing off Nate and getting to my feet, making a beeline for my shirt. “Seriously,” I muttered under my breath, talking to myself. “I’m surrounded by ten of the hottest guys known to mankind—well, eight now because two are my brothers—some of them already have a connection with me—”
“—all of them…have a connection with you,” Brantley interrupted, but I cut him with a glare, shoving my top over my head.
“I can’t even get laid. My ex-boyfriend is a lying piece of shit, my family are deranged maniacs, my brother—”
“—step, if you’re about to start on me,” Nate interjected, climbing out of my bed.
I love their interactions

“We doing this? And choose your next words very carefully because I’m about to tear into that forbidden territory with no fucking shame.”

“I knew, if I didn’t already know, I knew right then and there, that it didn’t matter what this girl had done. It didn’t matter what she was about to do, and even though my thoughts and feelings were always conflicted where she was concerned, make no mistake, I’d end any motherfucker who dared come near her.”
Hmmmm? Maybe a turning point for mr big and bad Bishop?
