Much deeper than expected, which was a pleasant surprise.

I’m embarrassed at how long it took me to realize they weren’t taking about American football

"I'm not like other girls" is SO strong in this one.

Loved it I’m really bad at writing reviews, but this book was absolutely hilarious and wonderful. 10/10 recommend reading it! I couldn’t put it down lol

Book has heart ... I love a good friends to lovers book and this was no exception. Freya and Mac rubbed each other in all the right ways. However, the path to love was paved with lots of misunderstandings and hurtful words ... but they get their HEA. Now, I didn’t believe for a second the accents. Their voices sounded like an American (I even Googled to verify my hunch) trying to imitate an English and Scottish person. The dialogue did not feel authentic and at times made me cringe. Also, Freya’s self doubt was a bit much.... we all have the doubts but to love yourself should be found within you (which I believe she did) instead of a man/love interest telling you.

This was a fun and cute book. Obviously a little on the cheesy side that someone at 29 doesn’t have a clue about anything sex related but I often found myself laughing out loud at the commentary between him and her. Great read

3.75 stars ✨ This was cute, hilarious, and spicy. Oh, and I love the representation of a curvy fmc. My only complaint, and this is just because I’m a Mexican having grown up in the United States so def just a me thing, was the slang/terminology in this book. There were so many phrases and words that I had to google the meaning of lmao so it took me out of the story several times. I mean, main dude actually said something like, “Aye, you’re a bonnie lass. I’d have to be into blokes not to fancy the idea of shagging you.” Like, come on hahaha. It certainly always made me giggle though lmao. All of that aside, an overall enjoyable read! - - - Editing to add: I looked up the author and it looks like she is not even from the UK so, was the excessive slang even necessary?? Was it her overcompensating? So odd lmao.

best friends to lovers i love you. the love confession was so good, i want someone to confess their love to me with a cat

Held my attention. I love a good best friends to lover story. Bonus points for a Scottish hero. However I could have done without the epilogue. Or at least a better one.

From the very beginning I was grinning like an idiot at the cuteness and banter. The friendship between Mac and Freya is wonderful and fun. Chapter 27 had me FURIOUS and yelling at the book, but in the end it was still good. A very good read.

I am a sucker for a sports romance, don't know why, but they just give me the warm & fuzzies. This was my first Amy Daws book and I liked it! Friends to lovers can be a tricky trope, but I thought this one was thought out. I loved the plus size representation. I did feel some parts of this book dragged out a bit, and I did not like Freya body shaming herself so much in the book, which also fed into her inexperience. The banter between the two main characters was enjoyable and I liked that there was a bit of groveling - on the same hand, Mac did say some pretty horrid things to Freya, borderline unforgivable.

4 - I adored the quirky, fun, emotional, and well rounded characters, and loved the storyline and spice. However, it can be overwhelming to step into a story where you don’t know the history of all the characters, and while the author did a lovely job of showing desire > body size, I wish that storyline wasn’t as focused on, or had more resolution. I don’t feel as if Freya ever came to terms with her size, even through the beautiful personal development. Also, Freya could be a bit less dense about adult matters in the beginning, it’s a bit unbelievable. Overall, I loved this book and this couple

I really enjoyed this book! I was definitely more hooked in the first half than I was in the second half which happens often.

DNF at 70% This book was actually terrible. I was looking for a trashy book to read, a fun one you know, the kind you know what is going to happen and takes you no more than one brain cell to read, and you have fun with it but this book…. it was atrocious. It is so cringy, and the protagonists have no chemistry, and there’s no feelings truly involved to make you care about their relationship. I wanted to put this book down at the very first pages but I kept going because I thought that maybe it would get better…. it did not. Never taking recs from tiktok again I guess lol… at least not without checking at least five more videos, Truly so sad that this was my first read of the year
