Not really a review, just my thoughts immediately after finishing the book. 

What in the world did I just read? So strange. I think it was a little dragged out for all that happened. I think she was lucky her ex didn't have cameras installed to watch the dog. Also felt her reasoning for not leaving was pretty contrived. The magic part didn't really mesh with the other side, it left me confused. When you think of a Christmas bakery (which technically the book has very little to do with Christmas), you think it'll be a little more on the cute side. 

Is it supposed to be magical? Heartbreaking? Modern? It was too light on the romance. They really didn't even know each other or hang out much. I don't know. The MC didn't act her age (especially with what happens at the end. Girlllll you are old enough to know why your reasons are dumb). Maybe they should have narrowed down the ages and the theme?? I didn't really like this book.

Once Upon a December is another example of how soft, dreamlike and cozy Amy E. Reichert’s writing it. 

This story follow Jack and Astra as they met, repeatedly, every Yule they can at Jacks magical Christmas market. 

This story may not be for everyone but I loved the uniqueness and wholesome vibes. I loved Asta’s fierce love her for friends and her dog too! Her independence was a highlight here for me. Jack also learns and grows during this story: overall I’m glad I read this book this holiday season. 

This book was giving me Neverland vibes, but with characters I loved more than Peter and Wendy.
