I get that the book needed conflict, but that really brought this book from a 5 star to a 3.5 in my opinion. The third act breakup is also just suuuuch a trope at this point I'm bored.

If you're looking for a cute enemies-to-lovers read, this is it. It's more lovers than enemies tho. It shines a light on some important matters like body positivity and self-love, and how toxic these seemingly harmless concepts can be. We love a curvy MC and a hunky love interest!

This book is more than a romance, it’s about finding yourself and learning to be okay with every version of yourself! Such a great message

Hmm there were such sweet moments but overall it all felt a bit predictable and oddly paced. Not sure about the opinions of Crystal and Scott sometimes - the storyline was unrealistically over dramatic at points. However, the build up to the spice? The BATH SCENE hello… will be reading some scenes again haha

I brought this book ages away as it was $12 and I didn’t expect it to be so good. there was only 1 thing that I didn’t like but it wasn’t a dealbreaker for me tbh. I like the gym setting normally some body positive books where the fmc is plus size is cringey or makes them look horrible makes me so mad. but it was described so wonderful and it showed a modern sorta pop culture without being a cringey pop culture. I normally am like no pop culture but I didn’t mind it tbh ahah. It was such a wholesome book and the 3/4 mark showed some real struggles with social media which I loved the only reason it’s not 5 is because of that 1 scene I didn’t like ( it will spoil the book ) but apart from that amazing book, quick easy witty book ❤️

it was too good, your honor. it was too, too, TOO good. if crystal has a million fans, i am one of them, if she has none, i am dead. that's my auntie! see i didn't think i would eat up a gym romance as badly as i ate this. it hand-delivered the perfect amount of everything; spice, banter, "it's not you, it's me," the average citizen wouldn't get it the way i get it. this was genuinely the perfect little quick read, i had so much fun going through it and i think someone else will too. pls pick up this book if you can, it's incredible. will be seated for tara and trevor's book!! you alr know it that sneak peak had ME seated and ready.

One of the best books I've read this year.

 Set on you is a light and entertaining read that keeps you in love with both protagonists; Crystal and Scott.

 Crystal is an influencer who transmits the message of “self-love” and “body positivity”, she’s a strong and powerful woman who wants to transmit her good energy and help everyone who want to listen to her message. She’s such a relatable character because she’s real, she represents hope, goals, dreams, fears and our weakest points. Crystal honestly touched on a very strong subject for me, she taught me another perspective of "self love".

 Scott is a huge teddy bear, he's so cute and perfect, always being there for Crystal, not as her protector or her hero, but as her teammate. At her side, not behind her or in front of her.

 They’re a beautiful couple, with much to give and transmit. Set on you has to be read, not only for its beautiful ship, but for its powerful message of “body respect” and “self-acceptance”.

Set on you es una lectura ligera y entretenida que te mantiene enamorada de ambos protagonistas; Crystal y Scott. 

Crystal es una influencer que transmite el mensaje de amor propio y body positivity, es una mujer fuerte y poderosa que quiere transmitir su buena energía y ayudar a todo aquel que esté dispuesto a escuchar su mensaje. Es un personaje con el que fácilmente te idénticas porque es real, porque representa la esperanza, las metas, los sueños, los miedo y nuestros puntos más débiles. Honestamente Crystal tocó un tema muy fuerte para mi, me enseñó otra perspectiva del “amor propio”.

Scott es un oso gigante de peluche, es perfecto en todos los sentidos, siempre estando ahí para Crystal, no como su protector o su héroe, si no como su compañero de equipo. A su lado, no detrás de ella ni frente a ella.

Ambos me parecieron una pareja hermosa, con mucho que dar y transmitir. Set on you tiene que ser leído, no solo por su hermosa pareja, si no por su poderoso mensaje de “body respect” y “autoaceptación”.

I want to start with what I adored about this book: 

- The trigger/content warning at the beginning was TOP NOTCH and sets the standard for books, honestly.
- The curvy/midsize, biracial FMC
- The social media aspect
- The focus on "acceptance" versus "positivity," which is so important and a really great message to deliver
- The discussion on the effect that social media has on mental health

But there was a major issue with this book that I cannot overlook: (view spoiler)[

- The entire book is one, long, extended miscommunication trope. The whole thing. A good thing cannot happen without a communication shutdown, lockout, run away, then come groveling back situation. It's a trope that I absolutely despise because it makes the characters seem so juvenile and emotionally unintelligent, which distracts from the happy love story. 

I wish a good editor or peer reviewer could have gotten their hands on this manuscript and been vocal about how much better the book would have been if Crystal and Scott grew to be a team (as the author wants us to believe, despite all the times they refuse to lean on each other) and they tackled the social media post backlash TOGETHER. I think that would have made this such a better love story and would have set a really good example for what a healthy, adult relationship looks like. 

I also wished that the "rebound" plotline was edited out. The "Your grandma and my grandpa are getting married" was plenty to push the reluctance to get together along.  (hide spoiler)]

Overall, this debut novel shows a lot of promise from this author and I will be very excited to read the sequel to this book. I hope that she only continues to grow in her craft and I and looking forward to more forward-thinking, well-represented writing in the future.

This book was amazing!!! I loved reading about the journey that Crystal takes throughout this book on her outlook of body positivity. As a plus size girl, (And I’m also 5’8, just like crys), I LOVE the rep we’re given in this book. I truly feel that this book is accurate to the struggles plus size people face in society, but I appreciate the fact that it also promotes self-acceptance and respect and acknowledges that it’s okay to not feel the best about yourself all the time and that it’s not something to feel sorry about or ashamed of. Also can I hear some applause for Scott? Because oh my lord, when I say that man has my heart. If I every step foot in a gym one day,(chances: unlikely) I can only hope to turn around to find a that an extremely hot man has stolen a machine I was just about to occupy.

I really resonated with this book! The FMC is plus size in the fitness industry and self love and confidence is talked about in a very real, refreshing way. Overall very sweet and the writing style is reminiscent of talking with a friend.

Her feud with Scott, and their relationship helps her realize that she doesn’t have to do everything on her own and that she can let people in.

Described as a Chris Evans look alike, he enjoys eating clementines that are peeled by Crystal (no one else can do it, just her), falling asleep during long movies (this man had never seen the entirety of Titanic), and having very bad pick up lines.

I thought the plot in this book was good! The rivalry, the marriage connecting families, the waiting, the passion. I thought the conflict was good and still moved the story along with how the characters reacted. I’m excited for Tara’s story, considering she’s a bookstagrammer, it’ll be so fun to read!

I'm a plus size woman trying to get into fitness, and this book was infuriating in so many ways. 

It's almost like they knew how pretentious it was and tried to backtrack by turning everything the mc was doing 180 degrees in the end.

I loved this book. It was a quick read and absolutely adorable. It was refreshing to read a book with someone who is not a size 2. Crystal body size was more realistic to women in north America.
