Yay. Okay, they're not EXACTLY ghosts. they're called revenants and they refer to themselves as zombies, but whatever. I count them as ghosts.
I am looking forward to finding out what it is that makes Kate so special. i.e. why she caught Vincent's eye in the first place, why can she hear him, how in the heck does she have no psychological damage, etc.
I bet it has something to do with her parents, and their deaths. Possible her grandparents. Maybe her entire family is part some revenant-conspiracy-type-thing.God, I hope so.
We all know how much I love conspiracies.

Ich hatte die Revenant-Trilogie ziemlich lange auf dem SUB und habe im Zuge meines SUB-Votings endlich zu Band 1 greifen können. Es gibt sicher tausend Gründe, die dafür sprechen, die Reihe nicht zu mögen, denn sie ist sehr Klischee belastet und greift sehr viele altbekannte Muster auf. Das nur vorweg, denn auch wenn dies für mich kein Kritikpunkt war, möchte ich das gern zuerst nennen. Ich hatte von der Trilogie nichts Neues und Besonderes erwartet und manchmal tut es gut etwas zu lesen, was auf Altbekanntes zurückgreift 
Und dabei finde ich die Grundidee der Revenants gar nicht mal so altbekannt. Revenants sind so etwas wie Zombies, nur in attraktiv und mit einem angeborenen Hang zum Leben retten. Das alles weiß Kate aber noch nicht, als sie mit ihrer Schwester nach Paris zieht und dort auf Vincent trifft, der einer der Revenants ist. Kates Geschichte sollte mich im späteren Verlauf des Buches noch mehrmals berühren, denn obwohl Von der Nacht verzaubert eine eher leichte Lektüre ist, steckt gerade in der Protagonistin des Buches eine atemberaubende Vergangenheit, die mich direkt getroffen hat.
Dennoch kam das Buch anfangs nicht wirklich in Gang und es brauchte relativ lange, bis die Geschichte mich letztendlich fesseln konnte. Gerade am Ende ging es dann mit hohem Tempo weiter und ich hätte mit gewünscht, dass die Verteilung etwas ausgewogener gewesen wäre. Dennoch eröffnet und Von der Nacht verzaubert einen vielversprechenden Eindruck davon, was uns in den nächsten Bänden erwartet. Amy Plums Schreibstil ist dabei locker, sodass das Jugendbuch eine tolle Lektüre für zwischendurch ist. 
Fazit: Amy Plums Revenant Trilogie greift zwar altbekannte Muster auf, schafft durch die Revenants jedoch auch einen interessanten neuen Ansatz und wer gerne mal eher klischeebelastete Bücher liest, greift mit Von der Nacht verzaubert definitiv zum richtigen Buch. Obwohl der Schreibstil sehr locker und leicht ist, hat es besonders Protagonistin Kate in sich, die dem Leser eine sehr tiefgehende und traurige Vergangenheit präsentiert, die direkt berührt.

Paris, romance and zombies. It's fair to say that Die for Me is not your usual book. 

When I first started Die for Me I really didn't know what to expect. After looking at a few mixed reviews I decided What the Hell? So, off I go and get myself a copy.

I sometimes find the whole love at first sight thing a bit tedious in YA novels but in this story seemed to shine a whole new light on that fact. Kate and Vincent were one of those couples yet somehow it just didn't feel cheesy. 

I think that the books setting in Paris made me really swoon. Turning each page had me exploring the city in detail. It added a layer of intrigue into the story, making all the plots twists and turns seem all that more unexpected. 

Die for Me was a stunning example writing that had me swooning and gasping as the story progressed.

эми плам - не очень хороший писатель, и это сказалось и на сюжете, и на мифологии, и на стиле. идея была бы неплоха - по крайней мере, хоть что-то свое, не оборотни, не феи, не ведьмы, но плохо проработаны правила, нет бэкстори ревенантов (может это в следующих книгах есть?), а сюжет где-то в середине рассыпается в хлам. персонажи картонные, их чувства тоже, психологизма ноль. короче, две звезды только потому, что я дочитала!

Die for Her is a short novella I read. I wanted to read this before reading the last one but now I'm not so sure how long it'll be before I get on reading the last book. In this novella, I really enjoyed reading about my favorite character in the whole book, Jules. I saw his personal turmoils and I wished the author could've showed more of his funny side. Now I see that his humour is just his shield and I feel so sorry for poor Jules :( But I don't think he'd want my pity. Kate was really annoying through the whole novella. I was okay with her before but now we don't really see eye to eye. I don't like how she irrationally rushes into things. This novella gives a good perspective on Jules's POV and I would suggest you read this if you really like him.

Die for Me is the first book in the Revenants series written by Amy Plum. Nowadays, there are two other books in the series. The last one have just been published this May.

 Kate has to move from the US to Paris, where her grandparents live. She and her sister have lost their parents in a terrible car crash. Her sister, Charlotte, and her have really different personalities, and a cause of this different way if dealing with their parents’ death. While Charlotte has fun, go out and enjoy Paris. Kate prefers to stay in reading for the million time one book. Kate’s family is worried about that so they try and try to convince her to go out more. Suddenly, she agrees, changing her room for a terrace in a café.
One day at the usual terrace Kate goes she meets a gorgeous boy, who was there hanging out with other hot boys. Next day, at the same terrace she survives a collapse from the façade of the café’s building. She was kind of saved by a girl, how made her stand up from where she was sitting in last minute.
Then she meets the gorgeous boy again. His name is Vicent and they even ended going out a date. However, things on the date do not go well. Also, she stars suspecting funny things are going on with Vincent.
The strangest thing is when he stops by and sees Vincent lying dead on his bed. She freaks out. She will find out what is going on with Vincent, and then she should figure out if she is capable of handling Vincent’s nature.

 Die For Me was a unique, enjoyable read. The paranormal aspect of the book is unique. A whole new thing I have never heard about before: not vampires, not ghosts, not zombies, not like anything heard before. Moreover, the setting in Paris adds very especial touch to the plot, it almost made it feel epic. Also, the path is just perfect: it is not too fast neither not too slow. Despite the fact the relationship is kind of rushed, the feelings are not. In my personal opinion it made the relationship felt real, in a way readers could connect with the characters. In addition to that, I really like the fact that even the “good ones” are able to feel angry, to want revenge; I am happy they are able to have guts.
On the other hand, the plot was too predictable, like how Charlotte was going to be used to get to Kate, and then get to Vincent. Also, I found Vincent too romantic; maybe as he was supposed to have risen in a previous historical time, it was a bit more reasonable. Nevertheless, I could not stand him sometimes. Not forgetting the rest Revenants were undeveloped and that I would have loved to learn more about them, how did they find each other, etc.

 Overall, I personally think that Die for Me was a really good book. I enjoyed it, nevertheless I found myself struggling with some characters and matters. I would recommend it to any paranormal lover seeking for a new twist.

I originally read this in 2013 and absolutely loved this series, giving this particular book 5 stars. I moved away from YA over the last few years but recently, for whatever reason, I was craving to read a YA novel. I decided to reread one that, 8 years ago, I had said was one of my new favorite books, just to see how my thoughts changed. 

I downgraded the rating to 4 stars, but to be honest, I still really enjoyed this book. It was nice to go back in time, and also somewhat nostalgic. The cheesey YA tropes are still there, and yes I noticed them more now as an older adult but oddly I found it endearing. 

Will I reread the rest of the series? For sure

I want to start with the cover of this book. The kindle Edition I have has the old US cover but now the US cover has changed to match the UK cover. Which I am so glad it has. The cover is simply beautiful. The pattern is so pretty and I love how it intertwines around Kate's arms. And of course the distance image of the Effel Tower wonderful.

On to the story. Die for Me really is a just a wonderful read. I was hooked from start to finish. There actually wasn't a part I didn't like. Usually there is always something I didn't like but not here. I just loved loved loved it.

Die for Me is a story about Kate, who comes from America with her sister after a tragic accident, to live with her grandparents in Paris. Soon she meets Vincent, a mysterious and very sexy young man. Kate is attracted to him straight away and is soon pludge into the dark and dangerous world of the Revenants.

I adored Kate, she is so sweet and nice and you really feel for her after all she has been through. When she meets Vincents she starts to open up and we get a proper glimpse into her life. She is a wonderful Protagonist, she is strong willed and doesn't shy away from the dangers that are thrown at her. Vincent, well I couldn't help but fall for him. I think it was a french thing Lol.

Amy Plum has created a flawless debut of novel about Zombies but with a very different twist and a wonderful mythology behind it. And a world that will suck you in and leave you begging for more. If you like your supernatural romance novels that are exciting, fresh and unique then this is the book for you. And if you are like me and love anything and everything to do with the beautiful city of Paris you will love this.

I wish I was more impressed with this book. Honestly the pretense had so much potenial, the main character had a likable and relatable personality and the love interest was hot. In fact, the whole thing could have been great except for the one part that botched it all- the love story. Just like too many YA novels, the book falls victim to a rushed and unbelievable romance that could have been so sweet but was really just kind of creepy, not only from Vincent but Kate too displayed some weird obsessive traits after her initial introduction

I really enjoyed this book. I liked the idea of the book with the reverents, it is a new concept that I haven't really read in any other books before. Kate was likeable as a character and I was able to connect with her pretty much from the begining of the book. Vincent totally sounds beautiful!!!! The only thing that really bugged me was that I felt that the romance just happened and that there was no leading up to it. It was like Vincent fell head over hills at first sight, which is fine but I like there to be a little more development to make it feel more realistic!!! With that being said I will defiantly be reading the next book in the series!!!
