Very cute illustrations, and fairly simple text. I did need to explain the ending a bit to my four-year-old, as she was confused by the fairly startling fact that the girl decides to send Sparkle back, but then quickly changes her mind. I felt the ending could have been expanded just a bit more to make it clear Sparkle had become a cherished friend, flaws and all.
