** spoiler alert ** read for school wasn't excited because a lot of the books this year were boring, but i definitely liked it more than i had expected :)

Very enjoyable with some great lines, as one would expect from Oscar Wilde ... “I always pass on good advice, it is the only thing to do with it. It is never of any use to oneself.” I didn't enjoy it as much as 'The Importance of Being Earnest', but it was a great play.

4.5 stars

I loved the play, it was absolutely fantastic and witty and well-written! My favourite character was, of course, Lord Goring, who had all the best and funniest lines, and was overall a really great character. I also loved the characters of Mabel and Gertrude, Mabel was really witty and a bit similar to me and Gertrude was really progressive for the age she lived in, and I really liked that about her. Laura Cheveley was absolutely devious and I strongly disliked her character, but Robert was a great character as well. I really liked that he cared so much about his wife. Also Phipps was very witty and seemed like a great butler. I thinks this is a great book for anyone looking for some fun and romance, with a strong message underneath.

Highlights

The strength of women comes from the fact that psychology cannot explain us. Men can be analysed, women… merely adored.

If one listens one may be convinced; and a man who allows himself to be convinced by an argument is a thoroughly unreasonable person.

Women have a wonderful instinct about things. They can discover everything except the obvious.

Do you really think, Arthur, that it is weakness that yields to temptation? I tell you that there are terrible temptations that it requires strength, strength and courage, to yield to. To stake all one’s life on a single moment, to risk everything on one throw, whether the stake be power or pleasure, I care not—there is no weakness in that. There is a horrible, a terrible courage.

To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance, Phipps.
