King of wrath is the first book in the kings of sin series by Ana Huang. It’s an interconnected standalone, so you don’t need to need to read the books in order, but it is recommended to enrich the reading experience, even though I didn’t read in order. 

Writing style : ana huang’s writing is eloquent, easy to read, and flows smoothly. I appreciate her writing, and am used to it, her books feel like a warm hug, I love her writing. 

MMC : Dante Russo — ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ this grumpy, broody man deserves five stars. 

side characters :  kai and Isabella stand out, man has the best timing, he knew what he was doing by overhearing isabella’s much interesting ramblings. I’m gonna read their story after my break. 

Story setting : billionaires? (Well, it’s a billionaire romance).

Summary : Dante is forced to marry his enemy’s daughter, because of her father’s blackmail, and also because he desperately wants to protect his brother from dying, they have rocky relationship at first, as they spend more time together, they realise, there is more to each other, and start melting the cold exterior just a bit, and then as they get close, the truth comes out, leaving their relationship in a mess, which they work on, because they both are adults who grow, and the character development is good too.

What i loved : i loved dante’s broody, reserved self which only melted when it came to Vivian, I also loved Vivian, she’s written beautifully, her emotions, her efforts in living up to her parent’s expectation as a society heiress, her warming up dante’s exterior, her as a host, she was perfect in every way. Dante being the cold CEO, who takes shit from no one, but falls on his knees for his woman. Man was engaged to Vivian, but everytime someone hurt her, the only thing came out of his mouth was “my wife” when they weren’t even married yet, I love this man, ana, i see what you did there, and love it. 

- “Next time you want to mark your ‘territory,’ you might as well urinate in a circle around me,” Vivian said after Kai left. “It’ll be more subtle.”

- “I hate the idea of you touching anyone else, or anyone else touching you. I hate that other people can make you laugh in a way I can’t. I hate how I feel around you, like you’re the only person that can make me lose control when I. Don’t. Lose. Control.”

- “It’s adorable.” He brushed a thumb over my flushed cheek.

Grumpy, brooding Dante had grown on me the past few months. But sweet, playful Dante? He was kryptonite to my heart.

- “If she wants to reconcile with you in the future, that’s up to her. But if you talk to her again the way you did at the dinner table tonight—if you hurt her in any way, if you make her shed a single tear or cause her a single fucking second of sadness, I will take everything from you. Very predictable but still enjoyable.  An easy read.

Ana Huang has my whole heart! I had such a great time reading this book. The back and forth banter between Dante and Vivian, their chemistry, the angst, was chef’s kiss. Even though you sort of know what’s going to happen, having it unfold the way it did was delightful to read. I couldn’t put the book down. Not just the romance, but the way the book explores different family dynamics and the dysfunctional relationships that go along with it is very realistic and refreshing. It doesn’t sugarcoat anything, but gives it to you straight and certainly makes you ask some tough questions. Balancing what your heart desires and familial expectations is a Herculean task, and only the very lucky ones get to have the best of both worlds. But maybe that’s a cultural thing and it’s just me. Dante and Vivian have my heart ❤️

But what I loved most were the FIGHTS! It felt so realistic and both POV’s were right! Just like a normal fight there isn’t one clear answer where one person is clearly wrong and one is right. Both are right in their own perspectives.

This book had me hooked from the very beginning, and I couldn't put it down. The story follows the intense and charismatic Dante Russo, who is a billionaire with a dark past. His character is so well-written, with layers of complexity that make him both captivating and relatable. Dante's relationship with Vivian, the strong and independent heroine, is electric. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the slow burn of their romance had me on the edge of my seat. The way they navigate their feelings amidst all the twists and turns of the plot is just perfection.

I swear there is crack in these books because I ate this up again like no other. Such an enjoyable and quick read! I will always devour billionaire romance and arranged marriage tropes because of the palpable tension and the goddamn smut (yall know what i’m talking about) Dante and Vivian truly didn’t miss! They weren’t exactly slowburn, because the attraction was there from the very beginning but I looked forward to it nonetheless. Lastly, the plot isn’t exactly unique, but at this point I’m really down bad for any book written by her so I need the next one already booo tomatoes throwing tomatoes (kai *coughs* young)

When I was reading twisted lies, I thought man, I would read a whole book on Dante mf Russo. NOT REALIZING he has a book :)

Anyway I really liked this book. I think the more Ana Huang books I read the more I like her. I did however have a love hate relationship with every character except maybe Isabella and Sloane.
