Sad, soft, and beautiful. Anaïs Nin’s journals, especially VO. 1 tell a tender life story of a struggle of womanhood in friendships, affairs, artistic being, and self-discovery. Largely through her relationships told from her time living in Paris in the 30’s, Nin’s writings on how she has built her life is heartbreaking and intensely reflective. “There is an end to my giving. A point at which I need to rescue myself.”
