Aftertaste

Zilch has a very strange life. But then, when you work for the Confab, a shadowy agency whose sole purpose is to keep the public safe from the things that go bump in the night, even the very strange starts to seem normal. But when Zilch scrabbles out of the grave holding his newest recently vacated corpse shell, he finds out he’s been sent to the one place he flat-out refused to ever go — home. As he trudges down the main thoroughfare of his North Carolina childhood hometown, gearing himself up to find the lusus (short for lusus naturae — a freak of nature), handle it, and get out before the precious few nanobugs in his corpse suit are exhausted, he meets Galavance. More accurately, she runs him over with her pink Chevy Cavalier. So begins an adventure that intertwines the two, whether they like it or not, because the lusus Zilch is after squelches uncomfortably close to the trailer Galavance calls home. Balancing wit and horror on the edge of a monster-killing blade, Aftertaste is a wild ride through life, afterlife, and the American South.
