What an intriguing read! The journey of the global hunt for the crime lords of cryptocurrency, that the author takes us on is like a roller coaster ride. So many moments which gave me pause. Safe to say this book has given me a lot to think about. Weighing privacy concerns against what is generally deemed necessary in the battle for the greater good, which typically overrides said privacy concerns, remains to be one of the biggest challenges we seem to face in this ever growing digital world and our dependency on it to function. We sure live in interesting times. I’m intrigued and concerned to see what the future holds for technology and, subsequently, us. I highly recommend this book.

An inspiring and unsettling true story, like Greenberg’s other books as well as the best of others in the genre by Joseph Mann, Nicholas Shaxson, and Nicole Perlroth.

Recommended for bitcoin nerds, cipherpunks, privacy advocates, and true crime fans. There is no graphic detail, thankfully, however, as this book explores the gaps between the claims of technology and the morals of humans, there is some very dark and disturbing subject matter.

3.5 stars rounded up to four. 

The criticism in other reviews that the book can in toto read as an ad for the blockchain analysis firm Chainanalysis rings somewhat true.
