Weatherly</a> Angel Fire kept me biting my nails throughout the whole thing! One: the damn evil angels again! Two: SEB! To say Seb put some tension in this book would be an understatement. That boy knows what he wants and he wasn’t going to back down. I totally fell in love with him. He was beyond charming and good looking….but I’m Team Alex, now and forever. Sorry, Seb!! Now, this isn’t to say Alex is perfect in this book. In fact, he goes a little overboard at some points and I was really worried he wouldn’t be able to fix things. Mind you, he’s under unbelievable pressure. Not only does he have to train the newfound group of AKs and figure out a way to take down a bunch of angels, he now has to worry about Seb and Seb’s feelings for Willow. So I forgave all of his wrong turns. I love you, Alex!! I loved that Willow is less scared in this book. She’s learning to fight back as best as she can. And I was really proud of the way she handled the Alex/Seb situation. She was confused, but not because she wasn’t sure of who she truly loved. She mainly just needed to understand her feelings and their place for each boy. It certainly wasn’t what we normally see in love triangles and I really appreciated it. Another interesting part of this book is the setting: Mexico. I don’t read many books set in my native country so I was completely excited about it! L.A. Weatherly brings it to life with her descriptive imagery. I felt like I was there. Some new characters are introduced and while I liked some of them, I hated how they all treated Willow and Seb. I especially disliked Kara. Even if she just wanted what was best for the group and Alex, I found her way to abrasive for me to like. L.A. Weatherly delivered a very worthy follow-up to Angel Burn in Angel Fire. It had tons of action and even more emotional rollercoasters! I am now eagerly anticipating the last installment in this series, Angel Fever.

Weatherly has created an angel mythology completely new and exciting. Angel Burn is not like any other angel book I’ve read before. We all imagine angels as these heavenly creatures that come to earth to protect humanity. The few lucky ones who have encountered the angels in Angel Burn will attest to this belief. Then there’s the truth. The truth is that angels only make you believe this, but in reality, they are feeding from humans. They are stealing their life force, causing these humans to develop cancer, mental illness, and other sicknesses. Crazy! I know! But so original!! Angels have always been the good guys! Well, no more. At least not in this story. Luckily, there are people out there, Angel Killers, who know the truth and are trying hard to stop them. Alex is an AK. And Willow…well, Willow turns out to be something completely different than anything out there. For this reason, Alex has to basically keep Willow by his side and take her with him wherever he goes. Willow is not too keen on the idea, but she’s not stupid, she knows she has no other choice. Alex and Willow are attracted to each other from the start, but they build great tension because they spend a lot of time trying to hate one another and stay at arms length. I like that kind of tension, because then the pay-off is so sweet and rewarding! Yes, I’m a romantic, ok! Their relationship had real depth, which I really appreciated. I thought all of the characters in Angel Burn were so well fleshed out. It helped that we get to see a lot of the story from several perspectives, including the bad guys. The pacing was just perfect, too. Really the only lull was when Alex and Willow spend time hiding out in the mountains. I thought that could’ve probably been shorten. By the end though, I was simply on the edge of my seat, biting my nails. I couldn’t put it down! I was expecting a different outcome but I liked the actual one even better. I will be reading Angel Fire very soon, because this is a story I want to jump back into soon.

FIRST READ: July 24, 2012
This is seriously one of the most amazing books I’ve read in a long time. Of course, most of the books I read are amazing, but this one stands out.
Tell me if you’ve heard this one: a boy who’s an angel hunter meets a half-angel girl and they inevitably fall in absolute, so-sappy-it-makes-me-sick love.
Now tell me if you’ve heard this one: Angels are bad guys. And not even fallen angels; just your run-of-the-mill, average Joe, un-fallen angel.
Yep. I had to love this book. It was fate.
Any fans of Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments will note a familiar name: Raziel. But instead of the beneficent creator of the shadow hunters, he’s the arrogant leader of a new evil angel empire here on earth. Only thing he has in common with Raziel from TMI is he helped create Nephilim. Except, in this book, they haven't discovered the term Nephilim, so they just call her a half-angel.
Speaking of TMI, since we all know it’s impossible for me to choose just ONE favorite book of all time, I do have a system where I choose my favorite book (series) within a certain genre. The half-angel genre is currently ranked so:

And I’m telling you, Alex and Willow ore seriously working on nudging Patch and Nora out of their long-time throne.
By the time I finish Angel Fire, who knows?
Anyway, I love this book and firmly believe it should be read while listening to Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park, and Disturbed. 
I feel it’s only fair to inform you that this book is told half in first-person (Willow’s POV) and half in third person (Alex, Raziel, and Jonah’s POV’s) I didn’t fid it at all confusing, though, it rather made a lot of sense.

Now, for some of my fave quotes:

 Though he’s hardly even touched Willow, he didn’t think he’s ever be able to forget her face, no matter what happened to him. 

He was just comparing Willow to a bunch of one-night stands he had with girls whom he can’t even remember what looked like.
Aww.

 She was half angel. 
Alex let out a breath. God, what did that even mean? 

That means any kids the two of you might have will be quarter-angel, duh.

 And now she was a thousand miles away from her home and might never see her mother again… with only some guy she hated for company. 

Some guy whom she met while they were escaping a mob after he’d been sent to kill her, no less.
And still gorgeous. 

 I was in love with him. 

Well, you don’t get much more obvious than that, do you? Personally, I hate it when this happens in a book and the character just announces “I’m in love with him!” by that point in the story, we can usually already tell.
Take Sydney and Adrian from Bloodlines for instance. At the end of the Golden Lily, they are so in love and everyone knows it despite Sydney insisting that she’s not, cuz she can’t be in love with him because he’s *gasp* a vampire! (Sydney’s totally in love with him. There’s no use denying it. Everyone knows.) 
Same situation here. We already know she’s in love with him. When you just say it like that, it’s kind of redundant.

 And I thought—even if he’s never going to feel the same way I do, it doesn’t matter. I still want to be with him.
I never wanted to be without him. 

Okay, see, I’d’ve liked this as her declaration of “I love Alex” better. Is it still redundant? Yes, especially since this is essentially Alex’s “I love Willow” declaration nearly word for word, but it better than just saying “I love him.”
Also, um, Willow? I’m not sure if you’re just unobservant or something, but he does feel the same way. He feels the same way a lot.

 No matter how human I felt when I was with Alex, I wasn’t. It wasn’t a boy with a girl; it was a boy with something not human. 

Jeez, Willow, you’re really bringing me down here. it’s a happy moment, but you have to go and complain about being part monster.
But this is one of things that makes this series stand out so much. In some series being half-angel is annoying when butts into your love life (Unearthly), sometimes it makes you badass (Mortal Instruments), sometimes it’s just plain dangerous and makes people want to kill you (Hush, Hush) but this is the first book where it’s been a BAD thing because you’re related to an angel, and angels are BAD people.

 But just then, it was Alex I was crying for. All that he’d been through, all those deaths of people he loved—and now he was having to experience it again, with me. thinking of what he was going through was like being beat up inside; it was even worse than imagining whatever might happen the next day. 

I kind of love that this insight into Alex’s character comes from Willow’s pov, not his. But at the same time, I’m saying:
Bull SHIT, Willow. You’re going off to your possible death, and no matter what pain he’s gone through, no matter what excuse he might have for feeling the way he does about it, gives him NO EXCUSE to act the way he did to you.
No freaking excuse, I tell you.

One last quote:
 Sadness touched me as I thought of the cabin—all the hours we’d spent there, playing cards, holding each other. But it was only a place; it wasn’t important. The important thing was being together. 

I love this realization. “It was only a place; it wasn’t important” touched my heart. I think that this is probably one of the most beautiful things I’ve read, ever.

With the final battle against the angels approaching, Willow struggles with her love and resolve when a shattering revelation sends Alex on a separate journey.

Angel Fever

Arg! Okay, I just read Angel Burn and Angel Fire and loved them, but if the wolrd ends before the next comes out, I'll cry. and i don't usually say that about books. I usually say if the world ends before (insert whatever I'm talking about) I'll be Mad.
But no, with this book, I'll cry. And I don't cry often.

No, no, no. NOT COOL. 

ACTUAL REVIEW:
This book was just... the best ending to the trilogy that could have happened. I read it in a night, and around eleven I was getting sort of tired and loopy and deep.
	
A year passed within a night. More than a year passed within a night, actually.

Now, when you have a book and it covers a large amount of time (Like a year) you can either focus on the year that passes (Like Wither) or you could could give a brief overview of how much time has passed but not a lot has happened because the main character is consumed with grief (like New Moon). This book went more of the New Moon route, and I understand why.

I felt a little detached from it though, but it came out alright because when stuff started happening again, the changes to Willow's character were there. 

When the whole (view spoiler)[Alex being 'dead' (hide spoiler)] thing happened, I sort of knew it wasn't possible. Like, c'mon dude. How often do YA authors (view spoiler)[Kill off main characters NOT at the end of the book (hide spoiler)] do that? (view spoiler)[(Also, when characters that I don't want to die "die" I slip to the the last page just to make sure that person's is on it.) (hide spoiler)] But he was still definitely (view spoiler)[dead (hide spoiler)] so I was trying to figure out how he could be both at once.

Schrodinger's Cat. 

(view spoiler)[Of course I knew he'd ended up in the angel's world, which in my Schrodinger's Cat analogy was both the box AND the poison, and until he left the angel's world he could be considered both alive and dead (hide spoiler)]

Also, I knew Kara hadn't died. At the end of the last book, they'd made too big of a deal about her being disappeared to be dead.

Best of all, one of the things I wanted MOST in this book was to see Nina again so that relationship could come to fruition where so often in YA books the best friends are ignored and forgotten. 
I got what I wanted.
Also, Jonah was there, which just made even happier.

There was a point in there where Willow wasn't getting along with Alex OR Seb and Seb and Alex weren't getting along with each other, which hurt me. But they worked it out. 

Best series ender I’ve read in a long time.

I really liked the beginning of the book. It isn't your typical 'angels are holy, good beings' storyline, so I really enjoyed that. Towards the middle/ending, Willow and Alex got a little too mushy for me-I mean, they'd only known each other for a few days and already they were in love. Their romance just happened too quickly in my eyes. Other than that, it was a good read. (:

           Well that was pretty freaking intense.
I read the first two books in this series a few years ago and as soon as I finished Angel Fire I was itching for this one. By the time this finally came out I'd forgotten the details of the series so I marathoned this series. I enjoyed the first two second time round, but they had lost their sparkle a bit, but I guess that's expected. You never enjoy a book the same after you've already read it. I found the second book tedious and I didn't know if I'd like this one. 

I enjoyed this book overall although I did have a few problems. I feel like the pacing or maybe just the writing style of this series held it back a bit. I also found myself getting really frustrated between the on again off again relationship between Seb and Willow. I can understand and sympathise with the characters, but at the same time I was annoyed. I think what annoyed me most was the kiss with Seb where she thought everything was perfect and falling into place but then when we hear from her again it was actually a mistake, yada yada yada. Willow can be frustratingly bi-polar with her feelings yo-yoing between love, hate and plutonic friendship with these two boys. 

I almost feel like it was too difficult for them to ultimately defeat the angels and every time an obstacle got in the way it was so frustrating, but I guess she had to keep the story going somehow and it did lead to a stronger sense of gratification in the end. Boy, am I glad that Raziel finally died. About freaking time. He was a crazy power-hungry dictator who has ruined the world.

As soon as we thought Alex died, I had a feeling he was coming back. But as time went by, I thought maybe he wasn't and then we get to Seb and Willow getting cosy and BAM Alex is alive! It was a little expected and it was torture knowing there was no way for Willow to know he was alive. It seemed like a way too abrupt and meaningless way for him to die so I'm glad he was alright.

I felt Willow's anguish when Alex came back and she didn't think she could be with him anymore, but oh my god all the shit these two have had to go through just to be together is crazy. I am so glad that she found Alex in the end and came to her senses.

It was really sad to see the base completely destroyed along with Sam and the rest of the recruits. For a while there when the angels were still linked it looked really hopeful. After they were separated and the base was destroyed I had no idea how they were going to possibly end this.

I enjoyed reading about the Edens and how they operated with different levels and "angel credits". As terrible as the Edens were they were managed very cleverly. Kudos Raziel.

I'm so happy Seb found his father and he was actually nice...for an angel and let them go. It was disappointing to see him die but it was never going to end well for any of the angels.

I really liked how it all came together in the end where Willow's mum actually played a really important role and it was tragically beautiful that they got a proper goodbye before Miranda sacrificed herself.

I think it was a good move having Willow lose some of her abilities after she sent the angels back. I found it symbolic and fitting. Willow didn't actually need her abilities anymore, they had served there purpose and it distanced her from the angels in more than one way.

Okay this hasn't really been much of a review, it's mostly been my comments and ranting. Overall I found this book and series infuriating but in a good way because it did develop the story as well as the characters and their relationships. This isn't a series I could read all the time, but I'm still happy I have completed it and seen where everyone and everything goes.
