Three stars, because I honestly liked this book. But I can't say much more about it than that.

During their first summer apart, four teenage girls, best friends since earliest childhood, stay in touch through a shared pair of secondhand jeans that magically adapts to each of their figures and affects their attitudes to their different summer experiences.

captures the feeling of being both too wise and too small in your own body so well :( ann brashares’ writing also really goes to show that you don’t need girls to act older than their age to make a moving YA novel

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is a novel I really should have read back in high school!

I found this book surprisingly fulfilling for me being an adult now reading about pre-teens. These stories are sweet and made me want to know more about these characters. I watched the movie years back, but this makes me want to watch it again for all the silly, girly feels (and I miss those ladies who starred in it <3).

The pants being a symbol in this story was a really honest yet fun take on passing the themes around in a book. I truly think it's a smart way to make the symbol so obvious yet... not? I feel like as a pre-teen I wouldn't have noticed the theme, but now as an adult it just warms me up!

Ann makes you love and feel for these girls in this book. It wasn't the fastest moving story, but it still had me hooked at every word. I want to fall into these girls's worlds and be best friends with them (or mentor them, at this point in my life).

I think this would be a great book for adults to read to their middle grade children, or introduce to their teens. It's sweet and heartfelt - and it doesn't bring you down. It lifts your spirits up, which is something we really need in this world.

If there are any cons about this book, it's that it isn't made for adults - if you are looking for an adult themed book, this isn't it. It's all about teenagers and their problems, in the minds of teenagers. It's not an adult look at teens, in my opinion.

Overall, I'm in love with this series! I hope I'm able to find the rest of this series so I can fall into their lives once again.

Four out of five stars!

I really liked it. Such a light read, perfect to read between exams.
(Though it is a book targeted for younger audiences (early teens))

Sweet book, previewed it for my daughter. She will really enjoy it. Great for 8-9th graders.

There were four girls: Tibby, Carma, Bee and Lena, and they were best friends.
And then they had to spend the summer separated for the first time.
But then they found the Pants(which, conveniently, fit them all) in Carma's wardrobe and decided those pants would be the thing keeping them in touch.
I liked the book, even if it didn't grip me. And let's not talk about the feels in those last few pages.
That one event was heartbreaking. AND MIMI!!
Anyway. If you're into contemporary(kind of?) fiction, chances are you will enjoy this one

i can't remember if I ever read this book or just watch the movie again & again & again but it is a delightful read!! i genuinely loved it !! I cried a lot and I laughed a lot. I felt so much love for these characters.

I find it amusing that a book about friends sharing an item of clothing is by someone called "Bra-shares" (Clearly, I'm feeling immature today)

This book is OK, but a bit prissy. I guess that's what some parents want from a book for teenage daughters? My favourite characters were actually ones who weren't the main four (Bailey, for example, or Lena's sister Effie). Out of the main four, Tibby is the least irritating and neurotic...

It was ok it was kinda confusing but it was good I guess

Fun read, though very different from my Christian world view. Because of the variety of real-life issues the girls are facing, I plan on reading this together with my daughters in a few years to discuss the ways the girls in the books handle their problems and we can do some Bible study and problem solving of our own.

As they part for the summer, four friends, Carmen, Lena, Tibby, and Bridget, embark on a journey of self-discovery when they decide to share an old pair of worn jeans that were purchased from a thrift shop and form the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

I read these books at a young age and rereading them later made me realize how good they are. They marked my childhood and myself forever. A beautiful friendship story. A must read.

The odds of the same pair of jeans fitting four different girls with four very different body types is pretty much impossible, right? Well, usually that would be correct, but in this case, not so much. Carmen Lowell, one of the main characters of this book, happens upon a pair of jeans at a second hand clothing store that she only buys because she didn't want to leave empty handed. But then she forgets all about them until the day before her and her three best friends separate for the first time in their lives. It's summertime, and all four girls will be off having their own adventures for once, without the support and companionship of one another. It's then, in Carmen's room, that the Pants resurface, where Lena gets the idea that all of them should try them on to see who should get them. This is where it all begins, where the Sisterhood begins.

This book follows the story of four different girls: Carmen, Lena, Tibby and Bridget. Four very different personalities but all very close to one another. They became the best of friends in part to their mothers, dubbed The Septembers by their prenatal yoga instructor. The girls were inseparable, during the good and the bad times. Since this is the first time that the four of them won't be around one another, they are forced to deal with things on their own, with only the Pants to serve as their anchor when all hell is breaking loose.

This is a book that is very close to my heart, although it took me many years to finally get the nerve to finish reading it. I watched the movie when it came out, seeing all of my favorite characters come to life and finally getting to see how this novel ends. The character that I related to the most was Carmen, especially because she had to come to terms with the fact that she was angry with her father, and she needed to confront him with what was always bothering her: why he left her and her mom and what made his new family so much better than his old one. It hit me the most because this is how I feel personally, and I envy how brave Carmen was to finally tell her father how she really feels.

The Pants may not be something that's real to me, something that I can hold on to when I feel the need to empower myself, but maybe I don't need it. Carmen, Lena, Tibby and Bridget may feel like they needed the Pants that summer, as a way to encourage them to get through this tough time, but in reality they just needed one another. More letters, more phone calls, more communication between the four of them so that they wouldn't feel like they were alone during the summer. Whatever happened to them, whatever they needed to get through in order to grow up, it made them stronger in themselves, and stronger in each other.

I thought this was a cute movie, so I've always wanted to read the series. I'm glad I finally did! It did get a little confusing when it would jump from character to character with a letter written from one girl to another as a segue. I would expect the next section to be about either the girl who wrote the letter or the one receiving it, but usually it was a third girl. Other than that, it was a solid story and a quick read. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

From the New York Times bestselling author Ann Brashares Best friends Lena, Tibby, Bridget and Carmen, all born within weeks of one another, are preparing to spend their first summer apart. When Carmen buys a pair of second-hand jeans, the girls discover that despite their different physiques, the jeans look great on all of them. They promise to rotate the magical jeans, dubbed 'the travelling pants', amongst them and at the summer's end record their favourite adventure while wearing the pants. The jeans travel the world with the girls, visiting grandparents in Greece, attending soccer camp in Mexico, spending summer with Dad in South Carolina and working at home. They tie together the four distinct characters, each individual and courageous young woman, as they find their own strength in the face of new love, unexpected friendships, a father's remarriage and a reckless relationship. The result is a true sisterhood of support and acceptance.

I've been wanting to read this series for years. But I just had so many other books to read first. Now I've finally have the time and I got to say this book was a bit of a disappointment. The girls were a bit childish which they are entitled to be since they are still in high school. It was hard for me to relate to them now that I am older and am no longer a high school student. The book was okay, it wasn't wonderful. I finished it in an entire sitting because I don't quit. I had to see this series to the end.

An integral part to my middle school life. I certainly felt rebellious reading this in sixth grade when my classmates were still reading Judy Blume. Always was a favorite.

For use in schools and libraries only. Four teenagers and best friends since babyhood share a pair of pants throughout a summer of separation as a way of staying connected.
