Unlikeable Female Characters

This book was such an eye opening and really fun read!

It digs into all the “difficult” women we see on screen like the messy, morally gray, complicated characters who refuse to play nice just to be loved. 

I loved how it made me rethink why we’re so quick to defend flawed men in media but tear apart women who show the same behavior.

The section on Breaking Bad really stuck with me because it dives into how Skyler White was vilified by the audience and seen as a “bitch” for simply not supporting her husband’s crimes and trying to protect her family while Walter could lie and murder without losing audience sympathy.

It really highlights how society expects women to be likable, supportive and non confrontational and punishes them narratively and socially when they aren’t.

It’s smart, passionate and full of pop culture references that made me want to rewatch everything with a new perspective!
