The Detective

The Detective Norcross Security #7

Anna Hackett2022
She’s a woman on the run and desperate to avoid her hot, nosy detective neighbor. Artist Savannah Cole has secrets. She can never stay anywhere too long or let anyone get too close. An obsessed stalker has her in his sights, and to protect her family, she can never go home, never share her art, and never fall in love. But when she plays her music a little too loud, she collides with her good-looking, inquisitive, and far-too-hot neighbor, Detective Hunter Morgan. A man who makes her want things she can never have. After an injury ended his military career with Delta Force, Hunt Morgan found his place at the San Francisco Police Department. He may not have been there for the men of his team, but now he does his bit to keep his city safe. But his mysterious, new neighbor is disturbing his peace. One look at the beautiful blonde and Hunt knows she has secrets… When a spate of mysterious attacks threaten Savannah’s life, Hunt steps in. He’ll keep her safe and he’s not going to let her run again. As Savannah’s stalker closes in, she finds herself with her own private protector. Even with his brothers and friends at Norcross Security at his back, she’s terrified he’ll become the next target. But Hunt isn’t afraid of her deadly stalker, because he knows the hardest challenge will be convincing Savannah to take the biggest risk and stay.

The first book for the Morgan Brothers! I love when a series can branch off into so-called secondary characters, all of which are going to be just as good as the "main books". Savannah is working as a Graphic Artist, keeping her true talent as an artist under wraps. But taking a house-sitting gig next doot to Hunter Morgan? Probably both the best and worst thing she could do to stay under the radar. That man can see a mystery at 1000 paces and he loves nothing more than solving a mystery! Hunter is a tad fed up with his new neighbour playing her music so loudly, he just wants to sleep after a hard day catching criminals. But when he foils an attempt on Savannah's life, he goes overboard to keep the smexy artist safe. Much to the amusement of Norcross Security and Brynn! Oh my lawd Hunt is brilliantly overprotective, and over his head with Savannah. He pretty much just steam-rollers her into his own version of WitSec LOL. He has a touch of survivor guilt/PTSD and that plays wonderfully with his attraction to Savannah. Savannah also has her own issues, both with Survivor Guilt and lack of faith in police after her own incidents in NY. These two learning to work together was great to see. Savannah may think she was on her own but she had a little found-family in her neighbours and Hunt. Loved the way Norcross just took one look at Hunt with Savannah and gave him heck for it - all whilst doing what they do best and protecting their own. Can't wait to see how the other Morgan boys fall!
