Before this I'd only come across Anne Fine as a children's author, so this showed me a whole other side of one of my favourite writers. I don't know that I can say I really liked this, exactly - but damn if this isn't a well-written disturbing story of a lecturer/student relationship gone wrong. In some ways it reminded me of Lolita. Should I be concerned I was so hooked on the storytelling that I devoured it in basically an evening? Probably.
