Sex & Sexuality Anne Lister diaries

The Anne Lister Diaries collection from the West Yorkshire Archive Service comprises 24 completed diaries and three further extracts written by Anne Lister between 1806 and 1840. Lister, a landowner from Halifax in Yorkshire, kept diaries throughout her life and in them recorded details of her daily life and routine, relationships, financial business and concerns, academic and literary interests, local industry and her work at her ancestral home, Shibden Hall. The diaries are remarkable for the detail with which they were compiled: a number of volumes include indexes of the people, books and pamphlets mentioned throughout.
