Prompt: haha this is a weird one, it was a picture of a tree which looked similar enough to the one on the cover of this book so I figured...that'll work.

This is a collection of short stories, each with an element of darkness to them; I think some are connected but not all? It leaps around in terms of when and where the stories are set, which I found interesting. Sometimes the jungle around the characters is literal...sometimes not. 

The writing here is excellent - there are turns of phrase that are spot-on, and sentences where what's unsaid is perhaps more important than what's said. I deliberately read each story and then immediately reread it before moving on to the next so I could take it all in.

I'd recommend this for those who enjoy stories by queer authors with queer representation and who don't mind stories that are a little on the dark and/or disturbing side.
