To spice up the boredom of working on a supermarket checkout and living in a crumbling tower block, Tracy imagines her dreary customers are the great and famous. As she hands over the change to the likes of Joan of Arc, Lawrence of Arabia, Princess Leia and Omar Sharif, her life is as rich as it will ever get. Or so she thinks. She's not surprised when she's sacked - it's happened often enough before - but what she isn't prepared for is her new job as a waitress at the Taste of Persia. Stepping into this world, she surpasses even her own imagination, falling under the spell of an unlikely suitor, Saaman Sahar, who has two wives already. Seduced by his complex story, she falls head-long into dinner plates, Islam and a rather tricky arrangement, but as word of this English harem spreads, so too does prejudice and bigotry.
