Someone

Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them

She cast her fragrance and her radiance over me. I ought never to have run away from her... I ought to have guessed all the affection that lay behind her poor little stratagems. Flowers are so inconsistent! But I was too young to know how to love her...

When someone blushes, doesn't that mean 'yes'?

In one of those stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night. And when your sorrow is comforted (time soothes all sorrows) you will be content that you have known me. You will always be my friend...I shall not leave you

People have stars, but they aren't the same. For travelers, the stars are guides. For other people, they're nothing but tiny lights. And for still others, for scholars, they're problems... But all those stars are silent stars. You, though, you'll have stars like nobody else... since I'll be laughing on one of them, for you it'll be as if all the stars are laughing. You'll have stars that can laugh!... and it'll be as if I had given you, instead of stars, a lot of tiny bells that know how to laugh ...

Look at the sky. Ask yourselves: Has the sheep eaten the flower, yes or no? And you will see how everything changes.

And a little later you added: ‘You know, when a person is very, very sad, they like sunsets.’

‘And were you very, very sad on the day you watched forty-four sunsets?’

All grown-ups were children once - although few of them remember it.

Politics are meaningless unless they serve a spiritual truth.

Walid

Maybe I am a bit like the grown-ups. Maybe I have grown old.

"If someone loves flowers, of which one single blossom grows in all the millions and millions of stars, it is enough to make him happy just to look at the stars."

It is such a secret place, the land of tears.

"It is only with the heart the one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."

El Principito

Estela Pérez Roman

An aviator whose plane is forced down in the Sahara Desert encounters a little prince from a small planet who relates his adventures in seeking the secret of what is important in life.

The little prince

"Eres responsable para siempre de lo que has domesticado." Qué hermosa historia y cuántas enseñanzas lleva en tan pocas páginas. Me hubiese encantado haberlo leído de niño. Quizás así me hubiese ahorrado golpearme la cabeza contra la pared unas cuantas veces. El principito viaja por el universo y en cada lugar que visita nos deja una moraleja, para pensar y para llevar dentro. Si me necesitan, búsquenme en mi jardín. Voy a estar cuidando mi flor.

I guess this book is about growing up and the differences between adulthood and childhood. Where life becomes more serious and less creative. I watched the movie years ago so I already knew what was about to happen but it was a good read.

Being stranded in a desert after a crash, a pilot comes in contact with a captivating young prince who shares his various adventures from planet to planet and his search for what is important in one's life. Few stories are as widely read and is universally cherished by children and adults alike as The Little Prince. For over 75 years the story is philosophical and includes social criticism of the adult world, and this edition includes the original text and beautiful illustrations. A perfect classic for every one's library.

The Little Prince

I read this book last year in 2025. My first novel ever.

Sometimes I wish to fade away under the stars just like the little prince.

for me it was a book which required some interpretation, which is surely playful, but it turns out your interpretations are wrong, because the hidden meaning is way too simple (you find out throughout reading the book) but maybe that's just me.

This book has been a huge part of my childhood, and even after more than a decade I still reread it when I miss my childhood days. The kid within us will never be gone. As a kid, this book helped me open myself to the different emotional effects one can feel when reading a book.

My ebook copy messed up the italic sentences so I’m pretty sure I missed out on some important quotes, which is why this gets four stars.

"We only really see with our hearts. What matters is invisible to the eyes." Such an adorable and cutesy read.

"An aviator, downed in the desert and facing long odds of survival, encounters a strange young person, neither man nor really boy, who, it emerges over time, has travelled from his solitary home on a distant asteroid, where he lives alone with a single rose. The rose has made him so miserable that, in torment, he has taken advantage of a flock of birds to convey him to other planets. He is instructed by a wise if cautious fox, and by a sinister angel of death, the snake."--Adam Gopnik, The New Yorker

Wow… what a book. I didn’t expect this at all. From the first page, it grabs your attention, and it’s such a great way to show what happens to all of us when we become adults. What happens to the child inside of us? We spend our adulthood busy with matters of consequence and forget the joys of life that even a sunrise or sunset can give us, or a flower, or the everyday beauty we find in nature. As of 2026, we are the only planet in the whole universe that we know of that has these things. (The nature and animals part—sunrises and sunsets happen everywhere, but I don’t know if they’re as beautiful as they are on Earth.) Definitely one of my most recommended reads.

i loved this so much. I cried. Even though this is a children's book, i resonated with it in so many ways than a book with an adult audience could've ever resonated with me.
