FANTASTIC OH MY GOD

i’m finding that with chekhov i enjoy the ideas presented and think he does a great job putting characters in relatable positions, but his writing is unappealing and the story/characters don’t really do it for me. that could be a problem with translation though. this makes a nice companion piece with Anna Karenina(but what doesn’t, really) concerning the city vs. country relationship and happiness/fulfillment/work

*Read for class. Can't say that a lot has happened, but it was not tideous to read. A short play I might even enjoy in theatre.

I truly don't like Chekhov, but I've seen this play acted out and I think that, with the right direction and passionate actors, it can become a masterpiece.
