I expected a lot from this installment, I thought this would be the time when things would finally take off and I’ll grow to love Ryiah even just a tiny bit but heavens to god, she is much muuuuch more annoying, childish, naive and over-the-top dramatic. Can someone hold my hair back? I think I’m going to hurl. And then there’s Darren who one minute would be cold, aloof and heartless then BAM! Suddey he’s a softie, a romantic and overly dramatic guy. Who are you kidding?<br /><br />Instead of the plot revolving around the apprenticeship, it revolved around a cheesy, soap opera kind of love triangle. Ugh gag. Ian is probably the only character I looked forward to in this series and he deserves so much more. One good thing though is that the writing has improved a lot since First Year so at least there’s that. Still contemplating if I’ll continue with the rest of the series, there are probably tons of good ones much worth my time. We’ll see.

Okay. I might be in love with Darren. Though there's also a part that hates him the tiniest bit.

But this book. THIS BOOK. It's something else. I'm obsessed with it. I'm obsessed with the series.

The way it's written, the character-building, the complexness of the characters, it all just... fits. This really has to be one of my favourite series of all time. And I can't find the right words to describe it. There is enough action, enough fantasy, enough romance, everything is balanced, which makes it easy to read.

I would really recommend this series (and yes I'm saying it again) for lovers of Throne of Glass, Air Awakens and Falling Kingdoms. This series fits right in.
